Tips for Your Advertising Account Manager Job Search
Quantify your book of business
Hiring managers want to see revenue impact, not just relationship maintenance. On your resume, list the size of accounts you managed, the number of clients handled simultaneously, and what retention or upsell outcomes you drove. Vague descriptions of client service get filtered out fast.
Apply early to roles that fit
Migrate Mate lists advertising account manager openings from across the United States in one place, so you can find roles that match and apply directly to each listing.
Tailor your resume to the channel
Digital-first agencies read your resume differently than traditional media houses. If a job description emphasizes programmatic, social, or search advertising, reorder your bullet points so your most relevant channel experience appears first, not buried under general account service duties.
Prepare a condensed campaign case study
Many advertising account manager interviews include a work sample stage. Have one campaign ready to walk through from brief to results: the client objective, your strategy recommendation, execution obstacles, and the measurable outcome. Keep it under five minutes when spoken aloud.
Research the agency's current roster before applying
Check which brands the agency publicly lists as clients before you submit. In your cover letter or outreach, reference a specific account type they serve that matches your experience. Generic letters that could apply to any agency get deprioritized in a competitive applicant pool.
Negotiate scope before you negotiate salary
In final-round conversations, ask how many active accounts you'd own from day one and what support structure exists. Account load directly affects your quality of work and client outcomes. Understanding that before accepting gives you a clearer picture of the role than a title alone does.
Advertising Account Manager Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies are hiring the most advertising account managers?
The companies hiring the most advertising account managers right now include Taboola, Taboola, and TikTok, with the largest share of openings in Texas, California, and Utah, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Agency groups, media companies, and in-house brand teams consistently post the highest volume of these roles.
How many advertising account manager jobs are remote?
About 45% of advertising account manager openings are fully remote or hybrid as of June 2026, though in-person requirements vary significantly by employer type. Digital and performance advertising roles tend to be more remote-friendly than roles tied to production-heavy or events-based accounts, which typically require client site visits or agency presence.
How do you become an advertising account manager?
Start by earning a degree in advertising, marketing, or communications, then build foundational experience in account coordination or media planning roles at an agency or in-house team. Develop fluency in at least one major advertising platform, practice presenting campaign performance to stakeholders, and progressively take on solo client ownership to demonstrate you can manage relationships independently.
Can you get hired as an advertising account manager with little experience?
Yes, many agencies hire at the account coordinator or junior account manager level with limited experience if you can demonstrate client-facing communication skills and basic campaign literacy. Internships at agencies, freelance client work, or experience in adjacent roles like media buying or marketing operations can substitute for direct account management titles when you frame your resume around client outcomes.
What does the advertising account manager interview process look like?
Most processes include an initial recruiter screen, followed by a hiring manager interview focused on your account history and client communication style, then a work sample or presentation round where you walk through a past campaign or respond to a mock client brief. Final-round conversations typically involve meeting team leads or department heads and may include questions about how you handle client conflict or scope creep.
Where can I find and apply to advertising account manager jobs?
You can find and apply to advertising account manager jobs on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from across the United States. Find roles that match your experience level, channel focus, and industry preference, then apply directly to each listing.
