Assembly Technician Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assembly technician in Louisiana?
Louisiana does not require a state-issued license specifically for assembly technicians, so the path runs through vocational training and employer certification. Programs at Louisiana Community and Technical College campuses, such as those offering industrial technology or manufacturing technology certificates, are the most direct entry point. Employers in the petrochemical, shipbuilding, and aerospace sectors in Louisiana typically hire completers of these programs and provide on-the-job training aligned with industry quality standards.
Which companies hire assembly technicians in Louisiana?
Louisiana assembly technician roles are posted by NOV, TrekTalent, and Rheinmetall and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Louisiana's concentration of shipbuilding yards, refinery fabrication shops, and defense contractors means sustained, year-round hiring rather than seasonal spikes.
Which Louisiana cities have the most assembly technician jobs?
Houma, Holden, and Slidell post the most assembly technician openings in Louisiana. Baton Rouge and the River Parish corridor drive volume through industrial manufacturing and petrochemical plant fabrication, while New Orleans and nearby Avondale support shipbuilding and marine systems work, and Lake Charles sees consistent demand tied to LNG construction and refinery maintenance projects.
Are there remote assembly technician jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Assembly technician work is fundamentally hands-on and tied to a physical production environment, so most roles require on-site presence. About 0% of assembly technician openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those exceptions are almost exclusively technical documentation, quality inspection coordination, or field service scheduling roles rather than core bench assembly positions.
How can I get hired as a assembly technician in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a manufacturing technology or industrial maintenance certificate at a Louisiana Community and Technical College campus and then applying directly to fabrication contractors or staffing firms that supply workers to Louisiana's shipyards and refineries. Huntington Ingalls Industries and Turner Industries both run structured apprenticeship and new-hire training pipelines for candidates without prior shop experience. Lateral moves from material handler, production helper, or quality inspector roles at the same facility are also a common on-ramp, and earning an OSHA 10 card before applying gives candidates a visible edge.
Where can I find and apply to assembly technician jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to assembly technician jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings. Search the listings, find the roles that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
