Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (Prairieville) Overview
The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician troubleshoots, repairs, maintains, and improves production machinery throughout EME. The role completes assigned tasks independently or with others in the department and assists the Lead Manufacturing Maintenance Technician with larger or more complex jobs. The position reports to the Project Engineer, receives daily assignments and technical guidance from the Lead Technician, and follows equipment repair priorities established by the Supervisor.
Manufacturing Maintenance Technician (Prairieville) Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Maintenance Technician shall:
- Task Execution and Priorities: Complete daily tasks assigned by the Lead Manufacturing Maintenance Technician and keep the Lead informed of progress, delays, and assistance needed. Follow the Supervisor’s equipment priority list, and ask the Supervisor directly for direction when managing multiple tasks or unclear priorities, since the Supervisor may change or override the repair order.
- Diagnosis and Repair: Diagnose equipment problems, determine causes, and perform repairs, adjustments, component replacements, and upgrades within training and authorization. Seek technical guidance when needed, assist the Lead Technician with larger or more complex jobs, and provide telephone troubleshooting support during assigned on-call periods.
- Preventive Maintenance and Knitting Equipment: Complete assigned preventive maintenance, including inspections, lubrication, and necessary repairs, according to the Preventive Maintenance Log. Assist with troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance on knitting equipment within training and experience, coordinating with the knitting equipment technician when additional expertise is needed.
- Production Support and Equipment Readiness: Work with the Supervisor and operators on equipment setups, changeovers, recurring problems, and repair needs. Verify proper operation and required safeguards before returning equipment to production.
- Improvements, Installations, and Project Work: Identify and suggest machine improvements, discussing proposed changes with the Lead Technician and involving the Project Engineer and relevant department personnel as needed. Carry out agreed improvements as assigned, independently or with the department, and report completion and results. Assist with approved equipment installations and project work, and coordinate with the Process & Automation Engineer or seek help from the Lead Technician or Project Engineer when additional support is needed for part fabrication, electrical troubleshooting, controls, troubleshooting, or resources.
- Communication and Documentation: Communicate repair status, delays, and unresolved problems. Complete the Daily Repair Log and Parts Log to document repairs, equipment changes, parts used or replaced, and inventory changes, and maintain accurate preventive maintenance records. Communicate parts shortages and replenishment needs.
- Safety, Training, and Housekeeping: Follow applicable safety, lockout/tagout, quality, and manufacturer procedures, and perform work within training and authorization. Participate in training and cross-training in equipment operation, troubleshooting, maintenance procedures, and safe work practices, and share equipment knowledge with team members as appropriate. Collect and properly store tools after use and at the end of each shift, and keep maintenance areas and spare parts clean and organized.
