About the Role
RED Group is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Industrial Control Panel Wiring Technician to join our growing Production team. This position is based full-time in our climate-controlled, air-conditioned 30,000 sq. ft. manufacturing facility.
We are specifically looking for individuals with hands-on electrical wiring experience who can read electrical schematics, route and terminate wires, and produce clean, organized, professional-quality wiring within industrial control panels.
This role is heavily focused on wiring PLC control panels, VFD panels, and other industrial electrical control systems. The ideal candidate takes pride in their workmanship, understands proper industrial wiring practices, and can work efficiently while maintaining high quality standards.
Our shop supports projects across multiple industries, including data centers, energy, marine, manufacturing, and industrial automation.
This is a shop-based position with no routine travel required. Occasional field opportunities may be available for employees interested in supporting installation, commissioning, or startup activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Wire industrial control panels, PLC panels, and electrical enclosures using electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics to identify wiring connections, terminal locations, wire numbers, and device requirements.
- Route, dress, and organize wiring within panels to maintain a clean, consistent, and professional appearance.
- Terminate wiring to PLC modules, terminal blocks, relays, circuit breakers, power supplies, VFDs, and other industrial control components.
- Measure, cut, strip, label, crimp, and terminate wires using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Install wire ferrules, ring terminals, spade terminals, and other electrical connectors as required.
- Identify proper wire sizes, colors, and termination methods based on electrical drawings and specifications.
- Ensure all wire connections are properly secured, labeled, and routed according to applicable workmanship standards.
- Perform basic electrical verification, including continuity checks and point-to-point wiring inspections.
- Identify and troubleshoot wiring errors, incorrect terminations, and discrepancies between drawings and completed panels.
- Maintain consistent workmanship and production efficiency while meeting project schedules and quality expectations.
- Follow UL 508A, NEC, customer specifications, and RED Group workmanship standards.
- Work closely with production leads, engineering, and QA/QC personnel to resolve wiring-related issues.
- Assist with minor panel assembly, component installation, and other production activities as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 2 years of hands-on electrical wiring experience, preferably involving industrial control panels, PLC panels, or similar electrical control systems.
- Ability to independently read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Demonstrated experience routing, dressing, labeling, and terminating electrical wiring.
- Experience using wire strippers, crimpers, ferrule tools, torque tools, and other electrical wiring equipment.
- Familiarity with electrical components such as terminal blocks, relays, circuit breakers, contactors, PLC modules, and power supplies.
- Understanding of wire sizes, conductor identification, electrical connections, and proper termination practices.
- Ability to produce clean, organized, and consistent wiring while maintaining production efficiency.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to follow engineering drawings, standardized work instructions, and quality requirements.
