Asset Manager Jobs in Pennsylvania: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a asset manager in Pennsylvania?
Most Pennsylvania asset manager roles require a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or accounting, followed by the CFA designation, which is the most recognized credential in institutional and portfolio-focused roles. Candidates managing client accounts involving securities may also need FINRA Series 65 or Series 66 registration, obtained through a FINRA-member firm. Pennsylvania does not operate a separate state licensing board for investment advisers beyond SEC or FINRA oversight, but registration through those bodies is standard for client-facing investment roles.
Which companies hire asset managers in Pennsylvania?
Employers hiring asset managers in Pennsylvania right now include KPMG, JLL, and ServiceLink, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Pennsylvania's concentration of mutual fund companies, regional banks, insurance firms, and commercial real estate operators creates consistent demand across both Philadelphia's financial district and Pittsburgh's growing investment sector.
Which Pennsylvania cities have the most asset manager jobs?
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Lebanon have the most asset manager openings in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia leads because it is home to major mutual fund managers, insurance holding companies, and institutional investors, while Pittsburgh's asset manager market is driven by large endowments, regional banks, and commercial real estate firms with significant portfolios in the surrounding metro.
Are there remote asset manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
Yes, and they are more common than in many financial roles, since much of the work is analytical and report-driven rather than client-facing or on-site. About 38% of asset manager openings tied to Pennsylvania are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how firms have adapted desk-based portfolio work. Research, modeling, and performance reporting functions are the most consistently remote, while client relationship and on-site property oversight roles typically require a physical presence.
How can I get hired as a asset manager in Pennsylvania with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an analyst or associate role at a Pennsylvania-based investment firm, bank, or real estate company, where structured rotational programs exist for recent graduates. Vanguard in Malvern, PNC in Pittsburgh, and Lincoln Financial in Radnor all run new-graduate analyst programs that feed into portfolio and asset management tracks. Candidates who earn the CFA Level I designation before applying gain a measurable edge, as do those who build financial modeling or Argus skills through coursework and projects that substitute for direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to asset manager jobs in Pennsylvania?
You can find and apply to asset manager jobs in Pennsylvania on Migrate Mate, which lists current Pennsylvania openings across Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and surrounding markets. Find roles that fit your experience level and specialty, then apply directly to each employer through the listing.
