Assistant Project Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a assistant project manager in Louisiana?
Most Louisiana employers hire assistant project managers who hold a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. Louisiana does not require a state-issued license specifically for the assistant project manager title, but roles in public works or building construction benefit from familiarity with the Louisiana State Licensing Board for Contractors requirements. Earning a Project Management Professional credential or a Certified Associate in Project Management designation strengthens candidacy considerably in this market.
Which companies hire assistant project managers in Louisiana?
Louisiana assistant project manager roles are posted by Cajun Industries, United Utility, and MMR and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's heavy concentration of energy, petrochemical, and infrastructure projects means many of the largest postings come from construction firms and engineering companies with long-term contracts along the Gulf Coast corridor.
Which Louisiana cities have the most assistant project manager jobs?
Baton Rouge, Geismar, and Rayville hold the most assistant project manager openings in Louisiana. New Orleans drives volume through large-scale commercial construction and public infrastructure investment, Baton Rouge is anchored by state government projects and petrochemical plant work, and Lafayette serves as a hub for oil and gas facility projects that consistently need project coordination staff.
Are there remote assistant project manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. About 21% of assistant project manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the role involves on-site coordination with subcontractors and inspectors. The portions most likely to shift remote are scheduling, documentation, and reporting tasks within larger firms that have established virtual project management workflows.
How can I get hired as a assistant project manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a project coordinator or field engineer role with a Louisiana-based construction or engineering firm, then moving into assistant project manager work after demonstrating reliability on active job sites. Large Louisiana employers such as Turner Construction and Jacobs Engineering run internship and new-graduate programs that feed directly into junior project roles. A Certified Associate in Project Management credential and hands-on internship experience with a contractor familiar with Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development projects give candidates a clear edge.
Where can I find and apply to assistant project manager jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to assistant project manager jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings updated regularly. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each listing that fits.
