POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and controlling utility-scale solar EPC projects. This role assists with schedule tracking, cost control, subcontractor coordination, documentation management, and client communication.
The APM is a developing project leader responsible for maintaining operational discipline, protecting margin, and ensuring project documentation and reporting standards are met.
STRATEGIC RESPONSIBILITY
Project Planning Support
- Assist in developing project execution plans aligned with contract scope.
- Support schedule development and milestone planning.
- Coordinate procurement tracking aligned with construction sequencing.
Risk Awareness & Mitigation
- Identify potential cost and schedule risks early.
- Track RFI logs and change order exposure.
- Maintain documentation to protect against claims.
Process Standardization
- Reinforce standardized reporting, cost coding, and documentation practices.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across projects.
OPERATIONAL EXECUTION
Schedule & Coordination
- Update and maintain project schedules (Primavera/MS Project).
- Track daily and weekly progress against milestones.
- Coordinate subcontractor schedules with the Superintendent.
Document Control
- Manage RFI, submittal, and change order logs.
- Maintain organized project files (digital and physical).
- Track drawing revisions and distribution.
Procurement & Vendor Support
- Assist with material tracking and delivery schedules.
- Coordinate purchase orders and vendor communication.
- Support invoice review and approval workflow.
Reporting
- Prepare weekly and monthly project reports.
- Support job cost review meetings.
- Maintain manpower and production reporting records.
