Visionary ASC operates two Medicare-certified centers, Innovations Surgery Center in Rockville, Maryland, and Visionary NJ in Secaucus, New Jersey, both equipped with the da Vinci Xi robotic system. WHY JOIN VISIONARY ASC

• Specialized work. This position handles general billing for facility (UB-04) and professional (CMS-1500) surgical claims — charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, A/R follow-up, denials, appeals, and payer negotiations.

• A small, experienced team. The Advanced Medical Billing and Appeal Specialist works directly with the Senior Manager of Revenue Operations, the center administrators, and the surgeons. Denial trends and payer problems the specialist identifies reach the people who can act on them.

• A growing company. Visionary ASC is adding surgeons at both centers, and the scope of this position grows with them.

• Patients who need the help. Patients come to Visionary ASC for procedures that other practices perform only in a hospital. Clear financial counseling from this position lets each patient understand her costs before surgery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Enter charges for surgical procedures accurately and on time, and scrub claims for coding, modifier, and documentation accuracy before submission.

• Submit professional (CMS-1500) and facility (UB-04) claims through the clearinghouse and payer portals, and correct and resubmit rejected claims.

• Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and write-offs from ERAs, EOBs, and lockbox deposits, and reconcile daily deposits against posted payments.

• Identify and resolve underpayments, overpayments, credit balances, and missed payments, and process refunds.

• Work aging A/R reports; research denials, identify root causes, and file appeals within payer deadlines.

• Respond to payer requests for medical records and audits, and track denial trends to prevent repeat denials.

• Verify patient eligibility and benefits, confirm prior authorizations and referrals, and estimate patient financial responsibility.

• Answer patient questions about benefits, account balances, charges, and EOBs; prepare patient statements and set up payment plans.

• Follow HIPAA, payer, and company policies, and prepare collections, denial, and A/R reports for the Senior Billing Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• At least 3 years of third-party payer billing experience (professional and facility) in a healthcare setting.

• Experience with denials, appeals, and patient financial counseling on benefits, balances, and patient responsibility.

• Working knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, modifiers, and CMS-1500 / UB-04 claim forms.

• Experience with EMR and electronic billing systems, clearinghouses, and insurance verification portals, and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

• Strong attention to detail, clear communication with patients and payers, and the ability to prioritize a high-volume workload.

Preferred

• Certified Professional Coder (CPC or CPC-A) or similar certification (CPB, CRCS).

• Ambulatory surgery center (ASC) or surgical specialty billing experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Works in a clean, well-lit office/clinic setting with no direct exposure to physical hazards.

• Sits for extended periods with intermittent standing and walking.

• Uses a computer, keyboard, phone, calculator, copier, and other office equipment.

• Occasionally lifts, pushes, or moves light to medium objects, such as boxes and supplies.
