Business Development Jobs in Sacramento: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development job in Sacramento?
Focus your search on Sacramento's three dominant hiring pockets: state agency contractors and lobbying-adjacent firms near the Capitol, health systems and managed care organizations in the medical corridor, and technology companies concentrated in Natomas and the greater downtown core. Candidates who combine a demonstrable book of relationships in one of these sectors with experience closing partnership or government procurement deals stand out most in Sacramento's market.
Which companies hire business developments in Sacramento?
Employers hiring business developments in Sacramento right now include Intuit, Vanir Construction Management, and CRBR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Sacramento's employer mix skews toward health plans, state government vendors, regional banks, and mid-size technology services firms rather than the large enterprise software companies more common in the Bay Area.
Are there remote business development jobs in Sacramento?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role: externally facing roles that require in-person client meetings and relationship building are rarely fully remote, while inside sales, partnership management, and market research positions are more commonly offered remotely. About 50% of business development openings tied to Sacramento are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with hybrid arrangements most common among technology and healthcare employers headquartered downtown.
How can I get a business development job in Sacramento with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Sacramento is through a sales development representative or account coordinator role at one of the region's many health services or government technology vendors, which routinely hire candidates without extensive experience. Internships with Sacramento-area lobbying firms, regional chambers of commerce, or the Sacramento Kings and SAFE Credit Union Foundation offer another foothold. Demonstrating any history of managing client relationships, even in a volunteer or part-time capacity, gives local candidates a meaningful edge.
Which industries hire the most business developments in Sacramento?
Sacramento business development roles concentrate in Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Sacramento's position as the state capital makes government contracting and health policy consulting unusually active compared to other California cities of similar size, which drives consistent demand across those sectors year-round.
