Business Development Jobs in San Jose: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a business development job in San Jose?
Focus your search on North San Jose's tech campuses, the Downtown core, and the corridor stretching toward Santa Clara, where enterprise software, semiconductor, and cybersecurity companies hire the most. Candidates who can show familiarity with complex B2B sales cycles, technical product conversations, and partnership-driven growth models stand out locally. Networking within San Jose's dense startup ecosystem and targeting mid-size SaaS companies competing with larger neighbors also gives you a real edge.
Which companies hire business developments in San Jose?
San Jose business development roles are posted by Advantest, BitPay, and Cadence and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local employer mix runs from global enterprise tech firms and semiconductor leaders to venture-backed startups building out their first sales partnerships.
Are there remote business development jobs in San Jose?
Yes, though with some limits: business development roles that require in-person client meetings, executive relationship management, or on-site partnership negotiations tend to stay local, while strategic planning, market research, and pipeline coordination work more naturally remotely. About 57% of business development openings tied to San Jose are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with hybrid schedules most common among the enterprise tech employers concentrated in North San Jose.
How can I get a business development job in San Jose with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in San Jose is through a sales development representative or business development representative role at a mid-size SaaS or cybersecurity company, where structured training and clear promotion tracks are common. San Jose's dense startup scene also hires junior partnership or growth associates who can grow quickly. Lateral moves from account management, customer success, or technical support at a local tech employer are another proven route into a full business development function.
Which industries hire the most business developments in San Jose?
The sectors hiring the most business developments in San Jose are Electronics & Hardware and Investment & Asset Management, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Jose's role as a global hub for enterprise hardware, software, and semiconductor companies means business development talent is in constant demand to build the partnerships and distribution channels those industries depend on.
