Business Operations Analyst Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a business operations analyst in Minnesota?
A bachelor's degree in business administration, operations management, finance, or a related field is the standard entry point for this role in Minnesota. No state-issued license is required, but employers across the Twin Cities and Rochester increasingly expect familiarity with process improvement frameworks such as Lean or Six Sigma. Building proficiency in data tools like SQL or Tableau and gaining experience through internships at Minnesota's large corporate headquarters strengthens a candidate's profile considerably.
How much do business operations analysts make in Minnesota?
Business operations analysts in Minnesota earn a median of about $77,820 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $50,890 for the lowest 10% to over $133,910 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire business operations analysts in Minnesota?
Companies currently hiring business operations analysts in Minnesota include IDeaS, Johnson Brothers, and AMTEC CORPORATION, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Minnesota's concentration of healthcare, retail, and financial services headquarters means demand for this role stays consistent across multiple large-employer sectors throughout the year.
Which Minnesota cities have the most business operations analyst jobs?
Saint Paul, Plymouth, and Bloomington have the most business operations analyst openings in Minnesota. The Minneapolis-Saint Paul metro drives the largest share of demand because it is home to a high density of corporate headquarters in retail, insurance, and healthcare, while Rochester's openings are largely tied to Mayo Clinic's extensive administrative and operational functions.
Are there remote business operations analyst jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than most fields, because business operations analysis is fundamentally desk-based and data-driven work that translates well to remote environments. About 100% of business operations analyst openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting strong adoption among the state's large corporate employers. Strategic analysis, reporting, and process documentation tasks are the functions most commonly performed fully remote.
How can I get hired as a business operations analyst in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to rotational business analyst programs or analyst associate roles at Minnesota's large corporate employers, including UnitedHealth Group, Target, and Ameriprise Financial, which run structured new-graduate programs. Lateral moves from adjacent roles like data coordinator, operations associate, or business systems administrator are common on-ramps. Building a portfolio of process improvement projects and earning a foundational certification such as Six Sigma White Belt or an Excel-based analytics credential gives candidates a measurable edge in competitive applicant pools.
