Job Overview
As a Child Care Assistant Teacher, you’ll help create a safe, welcoming classroom where infants, toddlers, and preschool-age children can learn and grow. You’ll support the lead teacher with daily care, engaging activities, and positive guidance, while building trusting relationships with children and families. Your impact: attentive supervision and development-focused instruction help children feel secure, explore confidently, and take part in classroom learning.
Duties
- Support child development instruction through age-appropriate play, learning activities, and routines.
- Provide childcare, including infant care and toddler care, while maintaining active child supervision.
- Assist with classroom management and behavior management; adapt activities to support children with special education needs and disabilities.
- Communicate with parents about children’s daily experiences, needs, and progress.
- Follow health and safety practices, including first aid procedures and applicable mandated reporting laws.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children; preschool, daycare, daycare center, or other classroom experience is helpful.
- Teaching experience with young children, early childhood education, childhood development, or experience working with students is preferred.
- First aid and CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), including pediatric first aid, are valuable; meet any applicable role or local requirements.
- Experience with special education or working with individuals with disabilities is an asset.
- Related experience in nannying, babysitting, caregiving, or child supervision is welcome.
