ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Under the general direction of the Director of Medical Surgical Nursing, maintains primary responsibility for the nursing float pool, nursing supervisors, staffing office, EEG technicians, and contracted dialysis services for inpatients, including overseeing patient flow.
- Lead for daily flow lead responsibilities and delegation with nursing supervisors and/or other leaders as appropriate.
- Provides leadership direction for nursing supervisors, ensuring consistent staffing coverage, and escalating issues or concerns in real-time.
- Manages float pool schedule to ensure consistent coverage.
- Oversees the staffing coordinators to assist in staffing inpatient units and supporting payroll adjustments as needed.
- Responsible for the collection, collation, and analysis of staffing related data while overseeing daily staffing process.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of departmental recruitment and retention strategies.
- Responsible for all human resource activities such as hiring, terminations, evaluating and corrective action.
- Manages scheduling for responsible departments, ensuring all coverage needs are met.
- Participates in coordinating and integrating patient care services both intra and interdepartmental.
- Participates in recommending a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide patient care at all times for responsible departments. Responsible for staffing 24 hours per day.
- Participates in the determination of qualifications and competence of nursing personnel and support personnel in the patient care unit.
- Participates in orienting and providing in-service training and continuing education for staff in the patient care units.
- Participates in continuously assessing and improving the performance of care and services provided on the patient care unit.
- Actively participates in developing and implementing policies and procedures that guide and support patient care on the units.
- Maintains quality control programs for departments.
- Participates in recommending space and resources needed by the patient care unit.
- Participates in recommending new services that could be provided in the patient care unit (strategic planning) for multiple departments.
- Responsible for planning, developing and implementing educational programs in collaboration with staff education for staff.
- Responsible for the development, implementation, and management of unit Salary and expense budget.
- Demonstrates commitment to improvement of department and organization as a whole.
- Participates in Continuous Process Improvement Initiatives within department.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Experience/Knowledge/skills Required:
- Minimum three to five years nursing experience.
- Three to five years nursing leadership experience preferred.
Education Required:
- BSN in Nursing is required.
- Master degree preferred.
Registration/Certification:
- Current RN Massachusetts License.
- Certification in specialty area preferred.
- Current ACLS and BLS required.
COMPENSATION
Pay Range:
$125,000.00 USD – $188,000.00 USD
The pay range listed for this position is the annual base salary range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
