Community Outreach Coordinator Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a community outreach coordinator in Louisiana?
Most Louisiana employers require a bachelor's degree in social work, public health, education, or communications as the foundation for this role. Community outreach coordinators in Louisiana do not hold a state-issued license, but candidates working in public health contexts often pursue a Certified Health Education Specialist credential, which strengthens applications at hospital systems and Louisiana Department of Health-funded programs. Gaining experience through AmeriCorps placements or Louisiana-based nonprofits before applying to full coordinator roles is a common path.
Which companies hire community outreach coordinators in Louisiana?
Employers hiring community outreach coordinators in Louisiana right now include CableSouth Media III, Upward Health, and Devoted Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's concentration of federally funded community health centers, large hospital networks like Ochsner Health and LSU Health, and disaster resilience organizations makes the state a consistent source of openings across both urban and rural markets.
Which Louisiana cities have the most community outreach coordinator jobs?
The cities with the most community outreach coordinator openings in Louisiana are Louisiana, Many, and Flora. New Orleans leads because of its dense concentration of nonprofit organizations, Federally Qualified Health Centers, and post-Katrina community development infrastructure, while Baton Rouge benefits from state agency offices and the LSU Health Sciences Center, and Shreveport's openings are anchored by regional hospital systems and workforce development councils serving northwest Louisiana.
Are there remote community outreach coordinator jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, but they're rare. Community outreach work is fundamentally field-based, requiring in-person contact with community members, partner organizations, and program sites. About 100% of community outreach coordinator openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most of those opportunities concentrated in program planning, grant reporting, and administrative coordination functions rather than direct community engagement work.
How can I get hired as a community outreach coordinator in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is volunteering or completing an internship with a Louisiana-based nonprofit or community health center before applying for coordinator roles. Organizations like the Greater New Orleans Foundation, Louisiana Primary Care Association member clinics, and United Way chapters across the state regularly bring on program assistants and AmeriCorps VISTA members without requiring prior coordinator experience. Lateral moves from case manager, community health worker, or social services aide roles at state agencies are also common. Completing a Certified Health Education Specialist exam or earning a Certificate in Nonprofit Management from a Louisiana university gives candidates a measurable edge.
Where can I find and apply to community outreach coordinator jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to community outreach coordinator jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Louisiana employers. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level, the sector you want to work in, and the part of the state you are targeting, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
