Human Resources Manager Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources manager in Louisiana?
Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work as a human resources manager, so the path runs through education and certification. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in human resources or business, followed by several years in HR generalist or specialist roles. Earning a SHRM-CP or PHR credential through HRCI significantly strengthens your candidacy, and the Louisiana chapters of SHRM in New Orleans and Baton Rouge offer local study groups and networking to help candidates prepare.
How much do human resources managers make in Louisiana?
Human resources managers in Louisiana earn a median of about $107,880 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $75,690 for the lowest 10% to over $177,870 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire human resources managers in Louisiana?
Employers hiring human resources managers in Louisiana right now include Entergy, First Solar, and LCMC Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's energy, healthcare, and higher education sectors tend to generate the most consistent openings for HR leadership roles across the state.
Which Louisiana cities have the most human resources manager jobs?
New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and New Iberia account for the most human resources manager openings in Louisiana. New Orleans leads because of its concentration of large hospital systems, hospitality groups, and port-related logistics employers, while Baton Rouge draws demand from state government agencies, petrochemical companies along the Industrial Corridor, and Louisiana State University's extensive administrative operations.
Are there remote human resources manager jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, though remote availability is limited compared to more technical desk roles because HR managers routinely handle in-person investigations, onboarding, and employee meetings. About 15% of human resources manager openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, so the option exists but is not the norm. Functions like policy writing, HRIS administration, and benefits coordination are the most likely to appear in a fully remote capacity.
How can I get hired as a human resources manager in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is moving into an HR coordinator or HR generalist role first, then building toward management over two to three years. Large Louisiana employers like Ochsner Health and the State of Louisiana regularly post entry-level HR positions that serve as stepping stones, and Tulane and LSU both have career placement offices that connect graduates directly with HR departments. A SHRM-CP credential or an internship with a Louisiana SHRM chapter affiliate can meaningfully accelerate the timeline for candidates without a long work history.
Where can I find and apply to human resources manager jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to human resources manager jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to Louisiana employers. Search the listings for roles that match your experience level and location, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
