Development Coordinator Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a development coordinator in Louisiana?
Most development coordinator roles in Louisiana require a bachelor's degree in communications, nonprofit management, public relations, or a related field. Louisiana does not issue a state license for this role, but employers strongly favor candidates with experience in fundraising databases and donor relations. Earning a Certified Fund Raising Executive credential or completing coursework through the Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations builds a competitive profile for hiring managers across the state.
Which companies hire development coordinators in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring development coordinators in Louisiana include DYNAMIC, Learn It Systems, and Gerry Lane Chevrolet, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of October 2026. Louisiana's robust nonprofit sector, anchored by healthcare systems, universities, and arts organizations in New Orleans and Baton Rouge, drives consistent year-round demand for this role.
Which Louisiana cities have the most development coordinator jobs?
Baton Rouge, Westwego, and Extension have the most development coordinator openings in Louisiana. New Orleans leads because of its dense concentration of universities, hospitals, and cultural nonprofits, while Baton Rouge benefits from major healthcare systems and Louisiana State University's extensive fundraising operations, and Lafayette's growing nonprofit and healthcare community supports steady regional demand.
Are there remote development coordinator jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and they are more common than in many comparable roles. About 0% of development coordinator openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of October 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of prospect research, donor communications, and database work. Tasks that require in-person attendance, such as events and donor meetings, are the most likely to remain on-site.
How can I get hired as a development coordinator in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an administrative or development assistant role at a Louisiana nonprofit or university, where candidates learn fundraising operations from the inside. Large employers like LSU Foundation, Tulane University, and Ochsner Health periodically post entry-level development associate positions open to recent graduates. Volunteering with Louisiana Association of Nonprofit Organizations events or managing a small grant for a community organization builds a portfolio that hiring managers at mid-sized nonprofits value as much as direct paid experience.
Where can I find and apply to development coordinator jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to development coordinator jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings across nonprofits, universities, healthcare systems, and arts organizations. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
