Human Resources Assistant Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources assistant in Louisiana?
Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work as a human resources assistant, so the typical path starts with an associate or bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field from a Louisiana institution such as LSU, Tulane, or Southeastern Louisiana University. Most employers expect familiarity with HRIS systems and basic labor law. Earning a SHRM-CP or PHR certification strengthens your application and is increasingly expected at mid-level positions.
Which companies hire human resources assistants in Louisiana?
Companies currently hiring human resources assistants in Louisiana include First Solar, LCMC Health, and Morton Salt, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Louisiana's largest employers in healthcare, energy, and state government consistently maintain active HR support teams throughout the year.
Which Louisiana cities have the most human resources assistant jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and New Iberia have the most human resources assistant openings in Louisiana. New Orleans and Baton Rouge lead because of their concentration of large hospital systems, universities, and state agency headquarters, while Shreveport's manufacturing and healthcare sectors drive demand in the northwest part of the state.
Are there remote human resources assistant jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, though they are less common than in purely analytical fields, since human resources assistants frequently support in-person onboarding, record handling, and employee relations tasks. About 11% of human resources assistant openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026. Roles focused on HRIS data entry, benefits enrollment support, and recruiting coordination tend to offer the most flexibility.
How can I get hired as a human resources assistant in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for HR coordinator or administrative assistant roles at Louisiana's large hospital networks and university systems, such as Ochsner Health or LSU Health, which regularly bring on candidates with limited experience through structured onboarding programs. Lateral moves from payroll clerk, staffing agency recruiter, or office administrator positions are common. Completing a SHRM student membership program and earning the SHRM-CP sets candidates apart even without direct HR experience.
Where can I find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to human resources assistant jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Louisiana openings. Find the roles that fit your experience and location, then apply directly to the positions that match.
