Human Resources Specialist Jobs in Louisiana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources specialist in Louisiana?
Louisiana does not require a state-issued license to work as a human resources specialist, so the path runs through education and credential. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field. From there, earning a SHRM-CP or PHR certification strengthens your candidacy considerably. Entry candidates often start in administrative or payroll support roles at Louisiana hospitals, government agencies, or energy companies before moving into a specialist position.
How much do human resources specialists make in Louisiana?
Human resources specialists in Louisiana earn a median of about $61,300 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,170 for the lowest 10% to over $100,420 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire human resources specialists in Louisiana?
Employers hiring human resources specialists in Louisiana right now include First Solar, LCMC Health, and Morton Salt, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Large, established hirers in the state also include healthcare networks, petrochemical operators along the industrial corridor, and Louisiana's state and parish government agencies.
Which Louisiana cities have the most human resources specialist jobs?
Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and New Iberia account for the most human resources specialist openings in Louisiana. Baton Rouge and New Orleans lead because they anchor the state's largest healthcare systems, university networks, and government offices, while Shreveport draws demand from its regional hospital groups and manufacturing base in northwest Louisiana.
Are there remote human resources specialist jobs in Louisiana?
Yes, and they are reasonably common since much of the HR specialist role involves documentation, compliance review, and digital systems work that does not require physical presence. About 11% of human resources specialist openings tied to Louisiana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with benefits administration and recruiting coordinator roles appearing most frequently in that format.
How can I get hired as a human resources specialist in Louisiana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through an HR assistant or payroll coordinator role at a Louisiana hospital system like Ochsner or LCMC Health, a state agency, or a large petrochemical employer along the River Parish corridor. Many of these organizations hire associates without specialist experience and promote from within. Earning a SHRM student membership or completing a PHR exam prep course signals commitment and often makes the difference when competing against candidates with similar academic backgrounds.
Where can I find and apply to human resources specialist jobs in Louisiana?
You can find and apply to human resources specialist jobs in Louisiana on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers across the state. Search the roles available, identify the ones that match your background and location, and apply directly through each listing.
