Human Resources Specialist Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a human resources specialist in Georgia?
Most human resources specialist roles in Georgia require a bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a closely related field. Georgia does not issue a state license for HR specialists, so credentials like the SHRM-CP or PHR from the HR Certification Institute carry the most weight with employers. Many Georgia employers, particularly in healthcare and state government, expect candidates to meet those certification standards before advancing to specialist-level positions.
How much do human resources specialists make in Georgia?
Human resources specialists in Georgia earn a median of about $70,570 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $44,580 for the lowest 10% to over $125,540 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire human resources specialists in Georgia?
Employers hiring human resources specialists in Georgia right now include Target, City of Atlanta, and State of Georgia, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of corporate headquarters, large hospital networks, and logistics hubs means HR specialist demand stays broad across industries rather than clustering in a single sector.
Which Georgia cities have the most human resources specialist jobs?
Atlanta, Lawrenceville, and Norcross have the most human resources specialist openings in Georgia. Atlanta leads by a wide margin because it serves as the headquarters city for dozens of Fortune 500 companies and major regional employers, while Savannah's growth in port logistics and manufacturing and Augusta's base of healthcare systems and military contracting sustain steady hiring in those metros.
Are there remote human resources specialist jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and they are more common than in many fields, since a significant portion of HR specialist work such as benefits administration, recruiting coordination, and policy development can be done remotely. About 52% of human resources specialist openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly employers have adopted flexible arrangements for desk-based HR roles. Employee relations and on-site onboarding positions tend to remain in person.
How can I get hired as a human resources specialist in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting as an HR coordinator or HR assistant, roles that Georgia's large hospital systems like Emory Healthcare and Northside Hospital, corporate employers based in the Atlanta metro, and state agencies post regularly for candidates without specialist experience. A SHRM-CP certification or enrollment in a SHRM student chapter through a Georgia university strengthens an application considerably. Lateral moves from payroll processing, office management, or benefits administration are also common entry points that Georgia employers recognize as relevant background.
Where can I find and apply to human resources specialist jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to human resources specialist jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring in the state right now. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
