INTRODUCTION
Airbnb was born in 2007 when two hosts welcomed three guests to their San Francisco home, and has since grown to over 5 million hosts who have welcomed over 2 billion guest arrivals in almost every country across the globe. Every day, hosts offer unique stays and experiences that make it possible for guests to connect with communities in a more authentic way.
The Community You Will Join
The Chief Business Officer organization plays a pivotal role in driving the company’s growth and expansion efforts worldwide. Our teammates work on commercializing Airbnb’s new and existing businesses, helping Airbnb expand beyond its core offering as a place to stay. This includes expanding into a highly fragmented, travel-adjacent services market to address key guest needs for convenience and make travel more memorable. With this focus on business strategy and expansion, the team is leading the way for Airbnb’s continued growth.
The Difference You Will Make
As a Sr. Programs & Business Operations Lead, you will play a pivotal role in driving the global expansion of Airbnb’s Services business, with a focus on emerging service categories. You will co-develop and execute strategies that take new travel-adjacent categories from concept to launch and scale. By partnering across cross-functional teams and leveraging deep analytical rigor with operational excellence, you will build the programs, processes, and business frameworks needed to make these new services a part of every traveler’s journey.
A Typical Day

- Cross-Functional Alignment & Coordination: Serve as a connective leader across Business Operations, Market Management, and Product Pods. Drive alignment among engineering, design, marketing, and legal teams toward shared targets, often without direct authority, by building strong relationships and leveraging strategic insights.
- Analytics & Performance Management: Leverage advanced analytical skills, including writing SQL queries, to independently extract insights from raw data. Build financial models, size market opportunities, and establish rigorous KPIs (e.g., revenue, conversion, quality) to inform fast, test-and-learn iterations and drive data-driven decision-making.
- Supply Strategy & Partner Operations: Evaluate and execute supply sourcing strategies for emerging categories, assessing whether to acquire supply through individual local hosts or by structuring partnerships to accelerate time-to-market and scaling.
- Operational Excellence & Process Improvement: Build the operational foundation required to scale new service categories. Identify bottlenecks in the funnel, develop contingency plans for risks, translate local market feedback into scalable requirements, and continuously improve processes and systems for efficiency.
YOUR EXPERTISE
- Experience: 12+ years of experience in business operations, program management, or strategy roles within high-growth businesses. Demonstrated ability to build and scale new businesses or programs, with a proven track record of driving cross-functional alignment. Marketplace experience, particularly within a digital company, is preferred.
- Strategic & Operational Execution: You are a builder. You possess the ability to not just draft a strategic playbook, but to operationalize the plan; standing up programs, building processes, and driving execution in complex global markets.
- Analytical & Strategic Skills: Highly analytical and data-driven. SQL proficiency is required. Ability to independently pull data, run complex analyses, distill insights, and translate them into clear, actionable business strategies and plans.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Business Operations Jobs at Airbnb Jobs
Tailor your resume to Airbnb's operating model
Airbnb's Business Operations teams focus on marketplace efficiency, host and guest experience metrics, and global expansion. Frame your experience around operational scale, cross-functional coordination, and data-informed decision-making to match what their hiring teams are screening for.
Clarify your visa status before the first interview
Airbnb's recruiting process moves quickly. State your visa type and work authorization timeline upfront so the team can loop in their immigration counsel early. Ambiguity late in the process creates delays that can cost you the offer.
Understand how your visa type affects the timeline
If you're on F-1 OPT, the 60-day grace period between jobs leaves little room for a slow offer process. For H-1B transfers, USCIS allows you to start with a new employer once the petition is filed, not after approval, so you don't have to wait for a receipt notice to begin.
Target roles that align with USCIS specialty occupation standards
Business Operations titles at Airbnb range from generalist to highly analytical. Roles requiring a specific degree field, such as finance, economics, or operations research, carry a stronger specialty occupation argument under USCIS criteria and face less scrutiny during H-1B adjudication.
Use Migrate Mate to find Airbnb Business Operations openings
Searching general job boards filters out sponsorship-relevant details. Migrate Mate lets you browse Airbnb's Business Operations postings filtered by visa type, so you can identify roles where your specific visa category has historically been supported.
Verify Airbnb's LCA filings through the DOL disclosure database
Before negotiating an offer, search the DOL's OFLC public disclosure data for Airbnb's Labor Condition Applications in Business Operations. This shows prevailing wage levels Airbnb has committed to for similar roles, giving you a grounded benchmark before salary discussions.

Find Business Operations at Airbnb JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Airbnb sponsor H-1B visas for Business Operations?
Yes, Airbnb sponsors H-1B visas for Business Operations roles. The key factor is whether your specific role meets USCIS's specialty occupation standard, meaning it requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field. Analytical and strategy-focused Business Operations positions, particularly those tied to finance, economics, or operations research, tend to have the clearest specialty occupation argument.
How do I apply for Business Operations jobs at Airbnb?
Applications go through Airbnb's careers site, but finding roles that align with your visa type takes more filtering than a standard job search. Migrate Mate lists Airbnb's Business Operations openings with visa sponsorship context, so you can focus on positions where your work authorization is supported. Once you apply, be prepared for a multi-round process including case study or analytical assessments.
Which visa types does Airbnb commonly sponsor for Business Operations roles?
Airbnb sponsors several visa categories for Business Operations, including H-1B, E-3 for Australian citizens, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT for recent graduates. For longer-term pathways, Airbnb has also supported EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship for employees in this function, typically after an employee has been in a qualifying role for a period of time.
What qualifications does Airbnb look for in Business Operations candidates?
Airbnb's Business Operations teams look for candidates with strong analytical foundations, experience working across product, finance, or operations functions, and comfort with data tools such as SQL or Tableau. A bachelor's or master's degree in business, economics, or a quantitative field is common. Candidates who can point to measurable process improvements or marketplace impact in past roles tend to stand out in the interview process.
How do I think about the sponsorship timeline when targeting Airbnb?
If Airbnb is filing a new H-1B petition, the annual cap registration window typically opens in March, with an October 1 start date if selected. For E-3 or TN applicants, the process is faster since those visas are cap-exempt. If you're on OPT, confirm your expiration date before engaging with recruiters so you can accurately communicate how much runway you have for a seamless transition.
