Align your portfolio with Autodesk's platform products
Autodesk's Product Software Engineering roles center on specific platforms like Fusion, AutoCAD, and BIM 360. Tailor your portfolio to show experience with CAD, PLM, or SaaS product development so your background maps directly to their open teams.
Clarify your visa category before applying
H-1B, E-3, TN, and F-1 OPT each have different filing windows and employer obligations. Knowing which category applies to you before your first interview lets you answer sponsorship questions confidently without stalling the process later.
Flag OPT timing early in your interviews
If you're on F-1 OPT, your work authorization has a fixed end date. Autodesk's recruiting team needs enough lead time to file an H-1B cap-subject petition or request a cap-exempt extension, so raise your timeline in the screening stage, not after an offer.
Understand what the LCA commits your employer to
Before Autodesk can file your H-1B or E-3 petition, DOL must certify a Labor Condition Application confirming the offered wage meets the prevailing rate for the role and location. If the role is remote or hybrid, the LCA must reflect where you'll actually be working.
Target teams actively shipping new product features
Autodesk's growth areas in generative design, cloud infrastructure, and API platform development tend to have more open headcount than legacy maintenance teams. Roles tied to active product development are more likely to move quickly through hiring and have budget allocated for sponsorship.
Use Migrate Mate to find Autodesk roles filtered by visa type
Sorting by visa category saves time when you need to confirm a specific role supports your status. Migrate Mate lets you filter Product Software Engineer openings at Autodesk by the visa types they actively sponsor, so you apply to roles that fit your situation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Autodesk sponsor H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers?
Yes, Autodesk sponsors H-1B visas for Product Software Engineers. The role qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines because it requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Autodesk has an established immigration program and works with outside counsel to manage H-1B filings, including both cap-subject petitions and cap-exempt scenarios for qualifying research or nonprofit affiliates.
How do I apply for Product Software Engineer jobs at Autodesk?
Applications go through Autodesk's careers portal, where roles are listed by team and location. You can also find and filter open Product Software Engineer positions at Autodesk using Migrate Mate, which surfaces roles by visa sponsorship type so you can confirm the position supports your specific status before applying. Most roles require a technical phone screen followed by a multi-stage interview covering system design and coding.
Which visa types does Autodesk commonly sponsor for Product Software Engineer roles?
Autodesk sponsors multiple visa categories for Product Software Engineers, including H-1B, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, TN visa for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students currently enrolled or recently graduated. For longer-term permanent residency, Autodesk supports EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process once an employee has established their tenure in the role.
What qualifications does Autodesk expect for Product Software Engineer candidates?
Autodesk's Product Software Engineer roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. Beyond the degree requirement, hiring teams look for experience building or shipping features in SaaS or desktop product environments, proficiency in languages like C++, Python, or TypeScript depending on the team, and familiarity with cloud infrastructure and API design patterns used in modern product development.
How do I understand the timeline from offer to visa approval at Autodesk?
Timeline depends heavily on your visa category. E-3 and TN petitions can be processed at a consulate within weeks of an offer. H-1B cap-subject petitions are tied to the annual lottery, with a start date of October 1 and a registration window in March. F-1 OPT holders can begin work immediately if their EAD is valid, with USCIS processing the H-1B concurrently. Build your expected start date around these government-imposed windows, not just Autodesk's internal hiring timeline.
