Align your credentials to Bentley's curriculum
Bentley emphasizes business-integrated education, so frame your teaching background around courses in accounting, finance, data analytics, or management. A degree that maps directly to the department you're applying for strengthens your specialty occupation case for H-1B petitions.
Verify OPT eligibility before your interview
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your STEM extension eligibility and remaining authorized period before accepting a role. Instructor positions at universities often qualify, but your field of study must match the role to satisfy DOL guidelines.
Target departments with recurring instructor openings
Bentley's business and liberal arts departments post Instructor roles throughout the academic year, not just in spring hiring cycles. Monitoring postings in late summer and early fall puts you ahead of candidates who only apply during peak season.
Ask about PERM timing during the offer stage
If permanent residence is your goal, ask Bentley's HR team early whether they initiate PERM for Instructor roles. Universities sometimes reserve sponsored Green Card pathways for tenure-track faculty, so clarifying this before signing saves you from a costly assumption later.
Search for Instructor openings using Migrate Mate
Filter by Education industry and visa type on Migrate Mate to surface Instructor roles at universities like Bentley that have an active sponsorship history. This narrows your search to employers where the immigration process is already familiar to HR.
Prepare documentation for TN if you qualify
Canadian and Mexican nationals teaching in qualifying academic fields may be eligible for TN status, which Bentley can support without the H-1B lottery. Gather your degree certificates and a formal offer letter before your port of entry, since USCIS adjudicates TN at the border.

Find Instructor at Bentley University JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Bentley University sponsor H-1B visas for Instructors?
Yes, Bentley University sponsors H-1B visas for Instructor roles. As a university employer, Bentley is cap-exempt, meaning petitions are filed directly with USCIS year-round without entering the annual lottery. This is a significant advantage if you're already on H-1B with another employer or need to transfer status quickly after accepting an offer.
How do I apply for Instructor jobs at Bentley University?
Applications go through Bentley's official careers portal, where Instructor postings list department-specific requirements. You can also find and track open Instructor roles at Bentley through Migrate Mate, which filters by visa sponsorship history so you can confirm the role aligns with your immigration needs before applying.
Which visa types does Bentley University commonly use for Instructor roles?
Bentley supports several visa types for Instructors, including H-1B, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, and F-1 OPT and CPT for students in their authorized work periods. For candidates seeking permanent residence, EB-2 and EB-3 pathways through PERM labor certification are also options, though availability depends on the specific role and department.
What qualifications does Bentley University expect for Instructor positions?
Instructor roles at Bentley typically require a graduate degree in a field relevant to the course being taught, and practical industry experience is valued alongside academic credentials. Given Bentley's focus on business and analytics education, candidates with professional backgrounds in finance, technology, or management are well positioned, particularly for roles in those departments.
How do I plan my timeline if Bentley is sponsoring my H-1B as a cap-exempt employer?
Because Bentley is a nonprofit university, it qualifies as a cap-exempt H-1B employer, so there's no October 1 start date requirement. USCIS standard processing runs several months, but premium processing is available if you need a faster decision. Coordinating your start date with both Bentley's HR team and USCIS adjudication timelines helps avoid gaps in work authorization.
