Tailor your credentials to Bentley's curriculum
Bentley sits at the intersection of business and the liberal arts, so faculty candidates whose research or teaching background bridges both areas stand out. Align your CV to highlight cross-disciplinary work, not just narrow specialization.
Confirm your degree meets specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires a direct relationship between your doctoral field and the Professor role you're applying for. If your degree title differs from your teaching discipline, prepare documentation showing the connection before you apply.
Identify open faculty lines early in the academic cycle
Bentley typically posts Professor openings ahead of the fall academic calendar. Use Migrate Mate to filter and track Bentley's active Professor listings by visa type so you're applying during the window when sponsorship decisions are still being made.
Ask about PERM during offer negotiation
Universities like Bentley can pursue PERM-based Green Card sponsorship for tenured or tenure-track faculty. Raise the question directly during the offer stage rather than waiting, since DOL's PERM process can take a year or more to complete.
Prepare your LCA documentation before your start date
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with DOL before the H-1B petition goes to USCIS. Confirm Bentley's HR team has your offer letter, job duties, and worksite location finalized well ahead of the intended start date to avoid filing delays.

Does Bentley University sponsor H-1B visas for Professors?
Yes, Bentley University sponsors H-1B visas for Professor roles. Faculty positions at Bentley typically qualify as specialty occupations under USCIS standards because they require at minimum a doctoral degree in a specific academic discipline. Bentley's HR and legal teams handle the petition process, including filing the required Labor Condition Application with DOL before submission to USCIS.
Which visa types are commonly used for Professor roles at Bentley University?
Professor roles at Bentley are most commonly supported through H-1B sponsorship for long-term employment, with TN status available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying academic fields. International doctoral students already in the U.S. often bridge through F-1 OPT or CPT while the employer-sponsored petition is prepared. Longer-term faculty on tenure tracks may also be eligible for Green Card sponsorship through the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based categories via PERM.
What qualifications are expected for Professor positions at Bentley University?
Most Professor openings at Bentley require a completed doctorate in a field directly related to the teaching discipline. Given Bentley's focus on business and analytics education, candidates with research backgrounds in areas like finance, data science, economics, or management are well-positioned. Active scholarship, a publication record, and demonstrated teaching experience at the university level are standard expectations across departments.
How do I apply for Professor jobs at Bentley University?
Applications for Professor roles at Bentley are submitted through the university's careers portal. You'll typically need a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, and writing samples. To find Bentley Professor listings filtered by visa sponsorship type, browse Migrate Mate, which tracks open academic roles at employers with documented sponsorship histories so you can target positions where international candidates are genuinely considered.
How do I time my application around the H-1B filing calendar?
Cap-subject H-1B petitions must be filed with USCIS by April 1 for an October 1 employment start, which means your offer letter and DOL Labor Condition Application need to be finalized weeks before that deadline. If you're finishing a doctorate, aligning your graduation timeline and OPT start date with Bentley's faculty hiring cycle, which peaks in fall and winter, gives you the best chance of a smooth transition to H-1B status.
