ABOUT THE ROLE
The Business Development team at Braze shapes future revenue success every day. It is the team at the forefront of identifying, understanding and helping potential customers build, enhance or transform their customer engagement offering.
Business Development Representatives (BDRs) at Braze grow into skilled commercial players and are trailblazers and action leaders when it comes to:
- Identifying target accounts
- Developing email and phone campaigns
- Engaging C-suite prospects
- Demonstrating the value of Braze
- Qualifying early stage deals
BDR is a multi-faceted role, kept fresh and exciting by day-to-day priorities like building account strategies with Account Executives, discovery phone calls, meetings with leaders and executives across accounts, building personalized email sequences and attending events to generate new leads. The ultimate goal is to generate high quality relationships that transform into high quality new business opportunities.
Every individual has a personal quota, and shares a team goal. The team is collaborative, communicative and we are always the first to take action. There's a lot of support and camaraderie with plenty of room to be proactive and take control of your own sales success. It is one of the most energetic, fun teams at Braze!
BDRs gain huge value from working together at our amazing offices. BDRs at Braze have a hybrid schedule, which means they will be in office a minimum of 3 days a week. This allows our team to thrive in a learning environment together.
BDR is a high impact role. The BDR will research accounts, develop and action a communication plan (via phone, email, LinkedIn, video etc) to generate new business opportunities (pipeline). There are proven processes to follow, several intuitive user friendly tools to use and KPIs to keep momentum up. BDR's prioritize outreach to prospects: the more relevant stakeholders we can speak with, the more likely we are to be successful in that account.
BDRs will manage their own meetings, and bring in other internal stakeholders as needed. They conduct high-level conversations with C-suite executives about their business goals, customer engagement and marketing challenges/opportunities with a view to understanding and 'qualifying' the opportunity. BDRs also deliver value-orientated pitches and solution demonstrations.

Align your stack with Braze's infrastructure needs
Braze runs high-throughput data pipelines and cloud-native systems for marketing automation. Emphasize hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, or AWS in your resume and cover letter. Framing your background around reliability engineering at scale makes your profile directly relevant.
Clarify your visa category before applying
Braze sponsors several visa types for engineering roles. Know which category fits your situation before your first interview. Australians on E-3, F-1 graduates on OPT, and TN-eligible candidates each follow different timelines and filing steps that affect when you can start.
Target open DevOps roles through Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to browse current DevOps openings at Braze filtered by visa type. Focusing your applications on roles explicitly open to sponsorship saves time and gets you in front of the right hiring pipelines faster.
Prepare for a multi-round technical evaluation
Braze's DevOps interviews typically include infrastructure design and system reliability scenarios, not just tooling questions. Practice architecting scalable CI/CD pipelines and incident response workflows. Interviewers often assess how you'd support the uptime demands of a live marketing platform.
Time your offer negotiation around H-1B cap dates
If you need H-1B sponsorship, USCIS opens registration in early March each year for an October 1 start date. Securing an offer well before February gives your employer time to file before the registration window closes. Late offers risk missing the cap cycle entirely.
Request a written sponsorship confirmation before resigning
Before leaving a current employer or letting OPT expire, get written confirmation from Braze's HR team specifying the visa category they'll file and the expected timeline. Verbal assurances during the offer stage don't bind the company to a filing commitment.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Braze sponsor H-1B visas for DevOps roles?
Yes, Braze sponsors H-1B visas for DevOps positions. Because H-1B is subject to the annual cap and lottery, timing matters. USCIS opens registration in early March for an October 1 start, so you'll need an offer in place before that window. Cap-exempt scenarios, such as prior H-1B transfers, follow a different and faster path.
How do I apply for DevOps jobs at Braze?
Applications go through Braze's careers page, where DevOps roles are typically listed under Engineering or Infrastructure. Tailor your resume to highlight cloud infrastructure, reliability engineering, and automation tooling relevant to marketing technology platforms. Migrate Mate also lists Braze's open DevOps roles filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you identify positions actively open to your visa category.
Which visa types does Braze commonly use for DevOps engineers?
Braze has sponsored H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3 for engineering roles. For DevOps specifically, the most common paths are H-1B for cap-subject candidates, E-3 visa for Australian citizens, and TN visa for Canadian or Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering occupations.
What qualifications does Braze typically expect for DevOps roles?
Braze's DevOps positions generally require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field, which also satisfies the specialty occupation requirement for H-1B and E-3 sponsorship. Beyond credentials, practical experience with cloud infrastructure, container orchestration, CI/CD automation, and site reliability principles is consistently reflected across their open roles.
How do I handle my visa status during the hiring process at Braze?
Disclose your visa situation early, ideally before or during the first recruiter call. Braze's recruiting team needs lead time to engage immigration counsel and initiate filings. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your remaining authorized work period and whether you're STEM OPT eligible, which extends your work authorization by 24 months and gives both parties more scheduling flexibility before an H-1B must be filed.
