Align your portfolio to Braze's stack
Braze's engineering work centers on distributed systems, high-throughput data processing, and customer engagement APIs. Frame your projects around these areas before applying so your experience maps directly to the roles they're actively hiring for.
Confirm your visa type fits Braze's sponsorship
Braze sponsors multiple visa categories for engineers, but not every category applies to every situation. Before you apply, verify that your current status and target visa type are among those the company actively files, so you're not blindsided late in the process.
Target roles before the H-1B registration window
USCIS opens H-1B lottery registration each March for October starts. Timing your Braze application to land a signed offer by late February gives your employer the full window to register, rather than scrambling after selection.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Braze's open engineering roles
Not all Software Engineer postings at Braze are actively hiring for sponsored candidates. Use Migrate Mate to filter open roles by visa type so you're applying to positions where sponsorship is confirmed, not assumed.
Prepare credential documentation early for specialty occupation review
USCIS evaluates H-1B petitions for Software Engineer roles partly on whether the position requires a specialized degree. Gather official transcripts, degree equivalency evaluations for foreign credentials, and any graduate coursework documentation before an offer is extended.
Clarify OPT or CPT timing with your recruiter upfront
If you're on F-1 OPT, your employment authorization clock is already running. Tell the Braze recruiter your OPT end date early so the team can synchronize your H-1B filing with USCIS cap timing and avoid gaps in work authorization.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Braze sponsor H-1B visas for Software Engineers?
Yes, Braze sponsors H-1B visas for Software Engineer roles. The company has a consistent record of filing across multiple visa categories for engineering positions. If you're targeting an H-1B, aim to have an offer finalized before the USCIS registration window opens each March, since the lottery timeline is fixed and can't be extended.
How do I apply for Software Engineer jobs at Braze?
Applications go through Braze's careers page, where Software Engineer roles are listed by team and location. You can also browse open positions filtered by visa sponsorship availability on Migrate Mate, which surfaces Braze roles confirmed for sponsored candidates. Tailor your resume to Braze's technical focus areas, particularly distributed systems, data infrastructure, and API development, before submitting.
Which visa types does Braze commonly sponsor for Software Engineers?
Braze has sponsored Software Engineers on H-1B, E-3 visa, TN visa, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, J-1 visa, and employment-based Green Card pathways including EB-2 and EB-3. Australian citizens can pursue the E-3 visa, which bypasses the H-1B lottery entirely. Canadian and Mexican nationals with engineering credentials may qualify for TN visa status, which doesn't require a petition or lottery.
What qualifications does Braze expect for Software Engineer roles?
Most Software Engineer roles at Braze require a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. This matters beyond just hiring, since USCIS also evaluates degree-to-role alignment when adjudicating H-1B petitions for specialty occupations. Relevant experience with distributed systems, backend infrastructure, or real-time data processing strengthens both your application and your visa petition.
How do I handle visa timing if I'm already working in the U.S. on a different status?
If you're on F-1 OPT and receive an offer from Braze, your employer must file an H-1B petition during the March registration window for an October 1 start. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you have a STEM extension, the cap-gap rule covers you automatically. For other status types, talk to Braze's immigration counsel early to map the transition timeline against your current authorized stay.
