Align your credentials to GFT's technical scope
GFT operates at the intersection of engineering and technology, so frame your structural background around systems integration, infrastructure resilience, or software-adjacent construction projects. Generic civil engineering credentials read as a mismatch for a tech-sector employer.
Target open roles before peak hiring cycles
H-1B petitions must be filed by April 1 each year for an October 1 start. Identify GFT's Structural Engineer openings early enough that your offer, LCA filing, and petition preparation don't get compressed into a few stressful weeks.
Confirm sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Before signing anything, ask your GFT recruiter directly whether the role is flagged for H-1B sponsorship. Some openings within large technology firms are approved for sponsorship internally before posting; others require a separate review after an offer is made.
Understand how the LCA affects your start date
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before USCIS can review your H-1B petition. LCA certification typically takes seven business days, but delays push your entire timeline. Factor this into your negotiated start date with GFT.
Use Migrate Mate to track GFT's Structural Engineer openings
GFT posts roles across multiple locations and disciplines, so openings can be easy to miss. Search Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Structural Engineer positions at GFT that are open to visa sponsorship, keeping your application focused and timely.
Prepare a portfolio that speaks to technology infrastructure
GFT's engineering work often intersects with data centers, tech campuses, or digitally managed facilities. Bring project documentation that shows you've worked on structures where technology systems, load requirements, and long-term operational specs were a primary design driver.

Find Structural Engineer at GFT JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does GFT sponsor H-1B visas for Structural Engineers?
Yes, GFT has sponsored H-1B visas for Structural Engineers. The H-1B is the primary work visa pathway for this role because structural engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation under USCIS guidelines, requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in a related engineering discipline. Sponsorship availability can vary by specific role and location, so confirming with your recruiter during the offer stage is the right move.
How do I apply for Structural Engineer jobs at GFT?
You can browse and apply for Structural Engineer positions at GFT directly through Migrate Mate, which filters for roles open to visa sponsorship. When applying, tailor your resume to reflect GFT's technology sector focus, highlighting any experience with infrastructure projects, digitally integrated facilities, or software-adjacent construction environments. Following up with the hiring team after applying improves visibility for competitive openings.
Which visa types are commonly used for Structural Engineer roles at GFT?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for Structural Engineers at technology companies like GFT. Structural engineering meets the USCIS specialty occupation standard, which is a prerequisite for H-1B eligibility. Candidates already holding an O-1A for extraordinary ability or an L-1 transfer from a GFT entity abroad may also be eligible, depending on their specific circumstances and employment history.
What qualifications and experience does GFT expect for Structural Engineer roles?
GFT typically looks for candidates with a bachelor's degree or higher in structural, civil, or a closely related engineering field. Because GFT operates in the technology sector, experience with infrastructure that supports data-intensive or software-managed environments adds meaningful differentiation. Professional Engineer licensure is not always required at the application stage, but it strengthens your candidacy and your H-1B petition, as it reinforces the specialty occupation classification.
How do I understand the H-1B timeline when targeting a Structural Engineer role at GFT?
The standard H-1B process begins with your employer filing a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, which typically takes around seven business days to certify. The H-1B petition is then submitted to USCIS, with cap-subject petitions restricted to an April 1 filing window for an October 1 start date. If you miss that cycle, premium processing is available for faster adjudication, though it does not change the October 1 start date for cap-subject cases.
