Verify your credentials meet state licensing requirements
Oregon requires specific certifications for biomedical and facilities service roles in healthcare settings. Confirm your credentials align with state requirements before applying, since Legacy Health's hiring team will screen for licensure eligibility early in the process.
Target Legacy Health's multi-site maintenance postings strategically
Legacy Health operates hospitals and clinics across the Portland metro area, and Service Tech openings often appear site-by-site. Filter postings by facility type to find roles with the highest technical specialization, which tend to attract stronger sponsorship consideration.
Align your application to biomedical or facilities equipment specialties
Healthcare Service Tech roles at Legacy Health typically require hands-on experience with clinical or building systems equipment. Emphasize specific equipment brands, preventive maintenance programs, or regulatory compliance work to differentiate yourself from general maintenance applicants.
Understand TN visa eligibility for technician roles before your offer
If you're a Canadian or Mexican citizen, TN classification may cover certain engineering or technical roles at Legacy Health. Confirm with the employer that the specific Service Tech position qualifies under the TN occupational categories DOL recognizes before the offer letter is drafted.
Clarify OPT or CPT authorization timing with your DSO early
F-1 students pursuing Service Tech roles at Legacy Health during OPT or CPT should confirm authorization dates with their Designated School Official before the start date. USCIS requires employment to fall within the authorized period, and healthcare employers cannot begin onboarding before work authorization is active.

Find Service Tech at Legacy Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Legacy Health sponsor H-1B visas for Service Techs?
Legacy Health has sponsored H-1B visas and does include Service Tech among roles where sponsorship has been pursued. That said, H-1B sponsorship for technical support roles in healthcare depends heavily on whether the specific position meets USCIS specialty occupation standards, which require a direct relationship between a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and the duties performed. Applicants with degrees in biomedical engineering, electronics, or a closely related discipline are best positioned.
How do I apply for Service Tech jobs at Legacy Health?
Applications go through Legacy Health's careers portal, where Service Tech openings are listed by facility and department. Create a profile, upload your resume, and apply directly to individual postings. If you need visa sponsorship, review the job description carefully for any sponsorship language, and use Migrate Mate to identify which Legacy Health postings are open to sponsored candidates before investing time in your application.
Which visa types are commonly used for Service Tech roles at Legacy Health?
Legacy Health has worked with H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa holders for Service Tech positions. F-1 OPT and CPT are common entry points for recent graduates in biomedical or engineering programs. TN visas apply to qualifying Canadian and Mexican nationals in technical occupational categories. H-1B sponsorship is available for longer-term employment where the role meets specialty occupation requirements.
What qualifications does Legacy Health expect for Service Tech candidates?
Legacy Health typically looks for candidates with hands-on experience maintaining or repairing clinical equipment, building systems, or medical devices, depending on the specific Service Tech role. Relevant certifications such as CBET for biomedical roles or EPA 608 for facilities work strengthen your application. A degree or technical diploma in biomedical engineering, electronics technology, or a related field is often required for visa-sponsored positions, since it supports specialty occupation classification.
How do I time my application given visa processing requirements?
Timing depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT authorization can take up to 90 days to process through USCIS after your DSO submits the application, so start early relative to your program end date. H-1B cap-subject petitions are only filed once per year with an April 1 start date, meaning you'd need an offer well before March. TN status for Canadians can be obtained at the port of entry with same-day processing in many cases, giving you more flexibility.
