Certify Your CMA Credential Before Applying
Legacy Health expects Medical Assistant candidates to hold a recognized certification, such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT). Having your credential in hand before you apply removes a common early-stage obstacle and signals you're ready to work without delays.
Target Legacy's Multi-Specialty Clinic Openings
Legacy Health operates clinics across primary care, oncology, and cardiology, and Medical Assistant demand varies by site. Prioritize openings at their larger outpatient facilities, where sponsorship decisions are more likely to be approved at the department level.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope During Your Interview
Legacy Health's sponsorship capacity for Medical Assistants can differ by facility and hiring manager. Ask directly whether the specific clinic or department has sponsored this role before, so you're not navigating the offer stage without that information.
Align Your OPT Start Date With Their Onboarding Cycles
If you're on F-1 OPT, time your application so your work authorization start date aligns with Legacy's onboarding windows. OPT has a 60-day reporting requirement after graduation, and a misaligned start date can create unnecessary gaps in your authorized employment period.
Understand H-1B Filing Deadlines Before Accepting an Offer
H-1B petitions for Medical Assistants must be filed by USCIS's April 1 registration deadline for an October 1 start. If you receive a Legacy Health offer in late spring, work with their HR team immediately to confirm whether a cap-exempt or subsequent-year filing applies to your situation.
Use Migrate Mate to Find Verified Legacy Health Openings
Filtering for visa-sponsoring Medical Assistant roles at a specific health system is time-consuming without the right tool. Use Migrate Mate to browse verified Legacy Health Medical Assistant openings filtered by the visa types you hold, so you're only applying where sponsorship is confirmed.

Find Medical Assistant at Legacy Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Legacy Health sponsor H-1B visas for Medical Assistants?
Legacy Health has sponsored H-1B visas for Medical Assistant roles, though sponsorship decisions are made at the facility and department level rather than system-wide. If you receive an offer, confirm early that the specific clinic is prepared to file a petition. H-1B sponsorship requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, so discuss this with HR before accepting.
Which visa types are commonly used for Medical Assistant roles at Legacy Health?
Legacy Health has supported H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visa holders in Medical Assistant positions. F-1 OPT is the most common entry point for recent graduates, since it allows you to start working without employer-initiated filing. TN status applies to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose Medical Assistant role meets USMCA qualifying criteria.
What qualifications or experience does Legacy Health expect for Medical Assistant roles?
Legacy Health typically requires a Medical Assistant diploma or degree from an accredited program, along with a recognized certification such as CMA (AAMA) or RMA (AMT). Phlebotomy and electronic health record experience, particularly with Epic, are practical differentiators. Clinical externship or direct patient care experience in an outpatient or multi-specialty setting strengthens your application significantly.
How do I apply for Medical Assistant jobs at Legacy Health?
You can search and apply for Medical Assistant openings directly through Legacy Health's careers portal. To filter specifically for roles open to visa sponsorship, use Migrate Mate, which lists verified Legacy Health positions by visa type so you can confirm sponsorship availability before applying. Applying directly through the employer's system is required; third-party submissions are not accepted.
How do I manage the timeline between a Legacy Health offer and my visa filing?
Once you receive an offer, notify Legacy Health's HR team of your visa status immediately so they can engage their immigration counsel. If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization end date and whether a STEM OPT extension applies. For H-1B, the April 1 registration deadline is fixed, so offers received outside that window may require a gap-year plan or cap-exempt alternative.
