Get Your Credentials Verified Before Applying
Healthcare Assistant roles at Legacy Health require state-recognized credentials. If your nursing aide certification or clinical training came from outside the U.S., get it evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before your first interview so delays don't stall the offer stage.
Target Legacy Health's High-Volume Care Units
Legacy Health's largest hiring demand for Healthcare Assistants tends to cluster in medical-surgical and long-term care units. Applying directly to postings tied to these departments increases your chances of reaching hiring managers who have sponsored visa candidates before.
Align Your Visa Timeline With Their Hiring Cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT, confirm your authorization end date before accepting an offer. Legacy Health will need time to file an H-1B cap-subject petition, and the USCIS lottery window opens only once per year, in March.
Browse Sponsored Healthcare Assistant Openings on Migrate Mate
Search Migrate Mate to filter Legacy Health Healthcare Assistant jobs by visa type. This saves time by surfacing only roles where sponsorship has been offered, so you're not guessing which postings are worth pursuing.
Confirm E-Verify Enrollment During the Offer Stage
Before signing any offer letter, ask HR to confirm Legacy Health is enrolled in E-Verify. Federal healthcare contractors are required to participate, but verifying this upfront protects your ability to start on time if your status requires employment verification.
Prepare for a TN Visa If You Hold Canadian or Mexican Citizenship
Healthcare Assistants who are Canadian or Mexican citizens may qualify for TN status under the USMCA, which has no annual cap and no lottery. Bring your credential documents and offer letter to the port of entry or U.S. consulate for same-day processing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Legacy Health sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcare Assistants?
Yes, Legacy Health has sponsored H-1B visas for Healthcare Assistants. Because the H-1B requires a specialty occupation with a directly related bachelor's degree, your eligibility will depend on how the specific role is classified. Roles requiring a nursing or health sciences degree are more likely to qualify. Confirm the job's educational requirements with the recruiter early in the process.
How do I apply for Healthcare Assistant jobs at Legacy Health?
Applications go through Legacy Health's careers portal on their official website. Search by job title and filter by location across their Portland-area facilities. You can also use Migrate Mate to find current Healthcare Assistant openings at Legacy Health filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility, which helps you prioritize roles where authorization support is available before you invest time in the application.
Which visa types does Legacy Health commonly use for Healthcare Assistant roles?
Legacy Health has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, TN, and J-1 visas for Healthcare Assistant positions. F-1 OPT is common for recent graduates in healthcare programs completing practical training. TN status is an efficient option for Canadian and Mexican citizens in eligible occupational categories. H-1B sponsorship is typically considered for roles that meet the specialty occupation threshold under USCIS guidelines.
What qualifications does Legacy Health expect for Healthcare Assistant candidates?
Most Healthcare Assistant roles at Legacy Health require a current Certified Nursing Assistant credential or equivalent state certification, along with hands-on clinical experience in a hospital or long-term care setting. Some postings in acute care units expect experience with electronic health records systems. If your credentials were earned outside the U.S., a credential evaluation from a NACES-recognized agency strengthens your application before the offer stage.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Healthcare Assistant at Legacy Health?
Timeline depends on visa type. F-1 OPT authorization can be in place before your start date if your EAD arrives on time, which USCIS typically processes within 90 days of filing. H-1B sponsorship follows the annual lottery cycle, meaning your earliest possible start date under a cap-subject petition is October 1 of the fiscal year following selection. TN status can be granted at the border or consulate on the day of application.
