Verify your credential evaluation matches Texas requirements
Texas requires licensure through the relevant state board before you can practice. Get your foreign transcripts evaluated by a NACES-approved agency early. Memorial Hermann's credentialing team will flag any gap between your evaluation and Texas board requirements before extending an offer.
Target Memorial Hermann's outpatient and rehab postings first
Outpatient rehab and specialty therapy clinics within the Memorial Hermann network often have more scheduling flexibility and longer hiring timelines, giving international candidates more runway to resolve sponsorship logistics before a start date.
Ask directly whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation
Not every therapy posting will meet USCIS specialty occupation standards without a clearly defined degree requirement. Confirm with the recruiter that the role specifies a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific clinical field, not just any healthcare-related degree.
Use Migrate Mate to filter open Therapist roles by sponsorship type
Memorial Hermann posts Therapist openings across multiple disciplines simultaneously. Migrate Mate lets you filter by visa type so you can identify which specific postings align with H-1B, TN, or OPT sponsorship before applying.
Align your OPT or CPT start date with Memorial Hermann's onboarding cycles
Large health systems run structured onboarding cohorts. Coordinate your F-1 OPT authorization window with their hiring timeline. A mismatch between your EAD start date and their next available onboarding date can delay your actual start by weeks.
Confirm the H-1B filing timeline before accepting an offer
If you're not already in H-1B status, USCIS cap-subject petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start. Ask Memorial Hermann's HR team whether they file under premium processing and what their internal deadline is for gathering your documents.

Find Therapist at Memorial Hermann Health System JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Memorial Hermann Health System sponsor H-1B visas for Therapists?
Yes, Memorial Hermann Health System sponsors H-1B visas for Therapist roles. The organization has a documented history of filing H-1B petitions for clinical positions including therapy disciplines. You'll need a qualifying specialty occupation role, a state license or confirmed eligibility for one, and a degree in a relevant field. Confirm sponsorship availability directly with the recruiter for the specific posting you're applying to.
How do I apply for Therapist jobs at Memorial Hermann Health System?
Applications go through Memorial Hermann's careers portal, where Therapist roles are posted by discipline and location across their Houston-area network. Migrate Mate aggregates these openings and lets you filter specifically for roles that support visa sponsorship, which saves time when you're targeting positions that fit your immigration status. Tailor your application to the clinical specialty listed in the posting.
Which visa types does Memorial Hermann Health System commonly use for Therapist roles?
Memorial Hermann sponsors H-1B visas for Therapist roles that meet USCIS specialty occupation standards. The organization also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates completing clinical hours. TN visa sponsorship is available for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying therapy classifications. The right visa depends on your nationality, degree, and whether you're already in the U.S.
What qualifications does Memorial Hermann Health System expect for Therapist roles?
Memorial Hermann typically requires a degree in the relevant therapy discipline, such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, or speech-language pathology, along with state licensure or documented eligibility to obtain it. For H-1B sponsorship, your degree must align specifically with the job's clinical function. New graduates applying through OPT or CPT should have completed their clinical rotations and passed or be on track for their state board exam.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing a sponsored Therapist role at Memorial Hermann Health System?
Build your timeline backward from your authorization deadline. If you're on F-1 OPT, your 60-day grace period after graduation leaves little room for delays in the hiring process. H-1B cap-subject petitions have an April filing window and an October 1 start date. Memorial Hermann's credentialing and HR process can take several weeks, so reaching out to recruiters at least three to four months before your deadline is a practical minimum.
