Obtain a CDL Before You Apply
Most Service Tech roles at Republic Services require a commercial driver's license. Getting your CDL before applying removes a common hiring barrier and signals you're operationally ready from day one, which strengthens the business case for sponsorship.
Target Regions with High Turnover
Republic Services operates in hundreds of markets, but suburban and fast-growing Sun Belt regions consistently post more Service Tech openings. Focusing applications on these areas increases your odds of reaching a hiring manager with an active sponsorship budget.
Highlight Mechanical and Safety Certifications
Republic Services values OSHA-10 training, equipment operation certifications, and hazardous materials handling credentials. These demonstrate specialty competency that justifies H-1B specialty occupation arguments and strengthens your petition if the company files on your behalf.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Roles by Visa Type
Service Tech openings at Republic Services are spread across dozens of states, and not every location has active sponsorship. Use Migrate Mate to filter current Republic Services listings by the visa type you need, so you're applying only where sponsorship is genuinely on the table.

Find Service Tech at Republic Services JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Republic Services sponsor H-1B visas for Service Techs?
Yes. Republic Services has a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for workers in technical roles, including Service Techs. That said, sponsorship availability varies by location and the specific nature of the role. Positions that involve specialized equipment operation, environmental compliance, or systems maintenance tend to have the strongest case for H-1B specialty occupation classification.
How do I apply for Service Tech jobs at Republic Services?
Applications go through Republic Services' careers portal, where you can filter by role and location. Before applying, confirm the posting aligns with your visa category. Migrate Mate lets you browse active Service Tech listings at Republic Services filtered by visa sponsorship type, which saves time if you need H-1B, TN, or OPT-eligible roles specifically.
Which visa types does Republic Services commonly use for Service Tech roles?
Republic Services sponsors H-1B, EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for this function. F-1 OPT and TN are typically faster to activate for roles that qualify. EB-2 and EB-3 apply to longer-term employment-based Green Card pathways, which require a PERM labor certification filed with the Department of Labor before USCIS adjudicates the immigrant petition.
What qualifications does Republic Services expect for sponsored Service Tech candidates?
Most Service Tech roles require a commercial driver's license, hands-on mechanical or equipment experience, and familiarity with safety protocols such as OSHA standards. For H-1B sponsorship specifically, the position typically needs to qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS criteria, which means a bachelor's degree or equivalent in a relevant technical field is generally expected.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Service Tech hire at Republic Services?
Timeline depends on visa category. TN and F-1 OPT authorizations can be activated within weeks. H-1B sponsorship follows USCIS processing timelines, typically three to six months with standard processing or two to four weeks with premium processing. EB-3 Green Card paths through PERM can take two or more years from initial filing to approval, depending on your country of birth and priority date.
