INTRODUCTION
SentiLink provides innovative identity and risk solutions, empowering institutions and individuals to transact with confidence. We’re building the future of identity verification in the United States, replacing a clunky, ineffective, and expensive status quo with solutions that are 10x faster, smarter, and more accurate. We’ve seen tremendous traction and are growing extremely quickly. Our real-time APIs have helped verify hundreds of millions of identities, starting with financial services and rapidly expanding into new markets. SentiLink is backed by world-class investors including Craft Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, NYCA, and Max Levchin. We’ve earned recognition from TechCrunch, CNBC, Bloomberg, Forbes, Business Insider, PYMNTS, American Banker, LendIt, and have been named to the Forbes Fintech 50. We have also been named a 2026 FICO Industry Vanguard Decision Award Winner. Last but not least, we’ve even made history - we were the first company to go live with the eCBSV and testified before the United States House of Representatives on the future of identity. SentiLink supports a variety of ways to work, ranging from fully remote to in-office. We operate as a digital-first company with strong collaboration across the U.S. and India. We maintain physical offices in Austin, San Francisco, New York City, Seattle, Los Angeles, and Chicago in the U.S., and in Gurugram (Delhi) and Bengaluru in India. If you’re located near one of these offices, we would love for you to spend time in the office regularly. Some roles are hybrid or in-office by design. For example, our engineering team in India works primarily from our Gurugram office.
ROLE
As a Data Scientist at SentiLink, you will build our core products: models that identify fraudsters and also advance our growing suite of products in financial risk. This role is designed for new PhD graduates or early-career researchers interested in applying machine learning to real-world fraud detection. You'll build and ship machine learning models in a production environment, gaining hands-on experience across the full ML lifecycle, from research and development to deployment at scale. If you're looking for real-world AI and ML exposure in an industry setting, not just research papers, this is it.
We Have Open Roles On Multiple Teams Including
- Emerging Products - focuses on 0-to-1 development of new offerings brought to market
- Application Fraud - analyzes the foundational elements of consumer financial applications to detect all forms of fraud
- Identity - resolves identities across massive, often conflicting data sources (both digital and physical) and generates risk models from limited information
You will be relied upon to be technically capable and the definitive owner of your respective domain. You will often work on projects with high visibility and impact that require deep domain understanding, critical thinking, and strong technical abilities. You will work with teams across the company to research new types of fraud, develop new products, and provide analysis to drive sales and marketing. This is a full-stack data science role, involving model development, analysis, and writing production code. You should be interested in having end-to-end ownership and a fast-moving environment where deep domain understanding drives development and unusual insights drive our competitive advantage rather than optimization of new machine learning methodologies. This role can be remote within the U.S., with a strong preference for candidates who can work from our Austin, San Francisco, or New York offices.
TECHNOLOGIES:
Python 3, PostgreSQL, and AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Redshift, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain SentiLink’s fraud detection models through the full model development lifespan: from data acquisition decisions through featurization, focusing labeling resources, model training, experimentation, productionalization, and monitoring.
- Build foundational modeling to drive SentiLink’s expanding suite of Fraud and Financial Risk products.
- Research new types of fraud and develop new SentiLink products around identity verification.
- Achieve success by researching/developing through iteration, integration of new data sources, and inventive feature engineering.
- Write production-ready code that can be relied on for real-time decision making by our partners.
- Design, perform, and present analyses that will inform data acquisition, product development, risk operations priorities, marketing, and sales efforts.
- Work with engineering, risk operations, and data acquisitions to access necessary data, maintain data quality, and support data access.
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field or equivalent experience/research
- Strong foundation in machine learning, statistics, or applied data science
- Experience with Python and common data science tools through coursework, research, internships, or personal projects
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems and build data-driven solutions
- Strong communication skills and ability to explain technical ideas clearly
- Interest in learning deeply about fraud, identity, and financial risk systems
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code
- Strong attention to detail and curiosity about real-world data problems
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must live in the United States
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment characterized by the need to solve extremely varied, high impact, open-ended problems

Align your portfolio to fraud data pipelines
SentiLink's core product is identity fraud detection, so projects that demonstrate experience building real-time data pipelines or working with identity verification datasets will carry more weight than general analytics work in your application materials.
Confirm TN eligibility before your interview
If you're Canadian or Mexican, the TN visa is employer-friendly because it skips USCIS filing entirely and can be processed at the border. Verify that your specific role and credentials meet DOL's Computer Systems Analyst classification before your offer stage.
Time your OPT application around SentiLink's hiring cycles
F-1 OPT authorization from USCIS can take up to 90 days to process. File as early as USCIS allows so your work authorization start date aligns with SentiLink's onboarding timeline and you don't create a gap before your first day.
Target roles that reference dbt, Spark, or Airflow
SentiLink's Data Engineer postings consistently emphasize modern data stack tools. Highlighting hands-on experience with these in your resume signals a direct skill match and strengthens your case during both the technical screen and any internal sponsorship review.
Clarify the PERM timeline before accepting an EB offer
EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship requires PERM labor certification through DOL, which can take a year or more before USCIS even receives a petition. Ask the recruiter at offer stage whether the company initiates PERM for Data Engineers and at what seniority level.
Use Migrate Mate to filter SentiLink openings by visa type
Not every Data Engineer posting at SentiLink will explicitly mention sponsorship availability. Use Migrate Mate to filter roles by the visa categories this employer has sponsored, so you're applying to positions where your status is already a known fit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does SentiLink sponsor H-1B visas for Data Engineers?
SentiLink's sponsorship activity for Data Engineers has focused on EB-2, EB-3, F-1 OPT, and TN rather than H-1B visa. That doesn't rule out H-1B sponsorship entirely, but if you're currently on H-1B status or need an H-1B transfer, confirm directly with the recruiter whether the specific role supports that pathway before investing time in the process.
How do I apply for Data Engineer jobs at SentiLink?
Apply through SentiLink's careers page or browse their open Data Engineer roles on Migrate Mate, which filters specifically for positions where visa sponsorship has been documented. Before applying, tailor your resume to emphasize data pipeline experience and tools relevant to fraud or financial data, as those align closely with what SentiLink's engineering teams actually build.
Which visa types are commonly used for Data Engineer roles at SentiLink?
SentiLink has sponsored EB-2 and EB-3 immigrant visas for permanent residency, as well as F-1 OPT for recent graduates and TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals. F-1 OPT is typically the entry point for new graduates, while TN is a practical option for those who qualify because it doesn't require a petition filed with USCIS in advance.
What qualifications does SentiLink expect from Data Engineer candidates?
SentiLink's Data Engineer roles generally require experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake or BigQuery, workflow orchestration tools like Airflow, and transformation frameworks like dbt. Experience working with high-volume transactional or identity data is a strong differentiator. A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical field is typically required for sponsorship eligibility under specialty occupation standards.
How do I plan my timeline if SentiLink is sponsoring my Green Card?
Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 starts with PERM labor certification filed with the DOL, which alone can take 12 to 18 months. After USCIS approves the I-140 petition, your priority date in the visa bulletin determines how long you wait for an available immigrant visa number. For most nationalities outside India and China, the full process from PERM to Green Card approval runs two to four years.
