Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Account Executive Jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific Jobs
Frame your science background as a sales credential
Thermo Fisher's Account Executive roles in research and diagnostics typically require domain fluency, not just sales experience. Highlight any exposure to lab workflows, reagents, instrumentation, or clinical research in your resume before you apply.
Target territory-based openings over national roles
Thermo Fisher structures its Account Executive team around geographic territories. Roles tied to a specific region or account set are more likely to move through sponsorship approval than broadly scoped positions, which can stall at the internal headcount stage.
Confirm your visa category matches the role level
Thermo Fisher sponsors both H-1B and TN visas for sales roles, but the qualifying criteria differ. TN requires you to be Canadian or Mexican and fit a NAFTA-listed occupation. H-1B requires a specialty occupation determination, which sales roles can clear when a technical degree is a genuine requirement.
Get your OPT STEM extension timeline straight
If you're on F-1 OPT, Thermo Fisher must be enrolled in E-Verify to authorize your STEM extension. Confirm enrollment before accepting an offer. With a 24-month STEM extension, you get two full H-1B lottery cycles, which matters if your first registration is not selected.
Use Migrate Mate to filter Account Executive openings by sponsorship
Not every Thermo Fisher job posting makes sponsorship eligibility explicit. Use Migrate Mate to filter their Account Executive listings by visa type so you're only spending time on roles where your situation is already a fit.
Negotiate your start date around USCIS processing windows
H-1B cap-subject petitions have an October 1 start date. If you receive an offer in late spring after the lottery, align your start date with that window. Premium processing, currently a 15-business-day adjudication target, is worth requesting if your start date is time-sensitive.

Find Account Executive at Thermo Fisher Scientific JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Account Executives?
Yes. Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Account Executive roles, particularly where the position requires a technical degree in life sciences, chemistry, or a related field. The role must qualify as a specialty occupation under USCIS standards, which Thermo Fisher's scientific sales positions typically satisfy given the domain expertise required to sell complex instrumentation and reagents to research and clinical customers.
Which visa types are commonly used for Account Executive roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
H-1B is the most common pathway for Account Executives at Thermo Fisher. F-1 OPT and CPT are used for early-career candidates transitioning from life sciences programs. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying professional categories. For longer-term employees, Thermo Fisher also initiates EB-2 and EB-3 Green Card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process.
What qualifications does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect for Account Executive roles?
Most Account Executive openings at Thermo Fisher require a bachelor's degree in a life sciences field such as biology, biochemistry, or chemistry. Practical familiarity with laboratory environments, research workflows, or clinical diagnostics is valued heavily alongside sales experience. Roles focused on biopharma or genomics accounts often expect exposure to those specific workflows, not just general B2B sales skills.
How do I apply for Account Executive jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
You can browse and apply for Account Executive roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific directly through their careers site or through Migrate Mate, which filters open positions by visa sponsorship eligibility so you can identify roles where international candidates are actively considered. When applying, tailor your resume to the specific product division or territory listed, since Thermo Fisher's sales organization is structured by business unit and geography.
How do I plan my timeline when pursuing H-1B sponsorship through Thermo Fisher Scientific?
The H-1B cap lottery opens in March each year, with a petition start date of October 1 if selected. If you're on F-1 OPT, secure your offer early enough that your employer can file by April 1. If you miss the lottery cycle, a 24-month STEM OPT extension gives you continued work authorization and a second registration attempt. USCIS premium processing can reduce adjudication to 15 business days once the petition is filed.
