Align your credentials to STEM-adjacent finance roles
Thermo Fisher's finance teams support R&D cost centers, clinical supply chains, and manufacturing P&Ls. Highlighting any exposure to scientific or biotech industry accounting during credential prep strengthens your fit beyond a standard finance background.
Target business unit finance openings directly
Thermo Fisher posts Finance Analyst roles tied to specific divisions like Biosciences or Laboratory Products. Applying to division-specific roles, rather than corporate finance generalist postings, often means a more defined hiring manager and faster sponsorship decisions.
Clarify OPT or CPT eligibility before your first interview
If you're on an F-1 visa, confirm your OPT start date and STEM extension eligibility before screening calls. Thermo Fisher's finance teams span NAICS codes that qualify for STEM OPT, but your degree field and program must align with DOL's STEM designated degree list.
Ask about the H-1B cap-exempt entity question early
Thermo Fisher is a for-profit employer subject to the standard H-1B cap and lottery. If you missed the current registration cycle, confirm your start date expectations with the recruiter so both sides plan around the next fiscal year October 1 activation window.
Search open Finance Analyst roles on Migrate Mate
Filter by Thermo Fisher Scientific on Migrate Mate to browse verified Finance Analyst openings with confirmed sponsorship history. You can sort by visa type to quickly identify roles compatible with your current status before investing time in the application process.
Prepare for PERM documentation if targeting a Green Card path
Thermo Fisher sponsors EB-2 and EB-3 Green Cards for finance roles, which requires a PERM labor certification filed with DOL. Request a conversation about their internal immigration policy timeline during the offer stage, since PERM processing can exceed a year.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsor H-1B visas for Finance Analysts?
Yes, Thermo Fisher Scientific sponsors H-1B visas for Finance Analyst roles. The company is a for-profit employer subject to the standard H-1B cap, so sponsorship depends on successful lottery selection during the annual USCIS registration window each March. If you're already on an H-1B with another employer, Thermo Fisher can file an H-1B transfer without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
How do I apply for Finance Analyst jobs at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
Search for Finance Analyst openings directly on Thermo Fisher's careers site or through Migrate Mate, which filters roles by visa sponsorship availability. Tailor your application to the specific business unit the role supports, whether that's a life sciences division, clinical research, or a shared services function. Mentioning relevant industry exposure in your resume improves your chances at the screening stage.
Which visa types does Thermo Fisher Scientific commonly use for Finance Analyst roles?
Thermo Fisher sponsors H-1B visas as the primary work authorization pathway for Finance Analysts. The company also supports F-1 OPT and CPT for students and recent graduates, TN visas for Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying finance classifications, and EB-2 or EB-3 immigrant visa petitions for candidates pursuing permanent residence through employer sponsorship.
What qualifications and experience does Thermo Fisher Scientific expect for Finance Analyst roles?
Most Finance Analyst postings at Thermo Fisher require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field, with stronger roles expecting familiarity with ERP systems like SAP or Oracle. Roles tied to scientific business units often value prior exposure to manufacturing or R&D cost accounting. For H-1B purposes, the position must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific discipline.
How long does the visa sponsorship process typically take for a Finance Analyst offer at Thermo Fisher Scientific?
If you're on F-1 OPT, work authorization can begin relatively quickly. H-1B sponsorship from outside the cap requires registering in March and waiting until October 1 for employment to start, a timeline of roughly six months from lottery selection. Green Card sponsorship through PERM adds further time, as DOL processing alone can take 12 to 18 months before USCIS adjudicates the underlying immigrant petition.
