Align Your Credentials With State Licensure Requirements
VITAS operates across multiple states, each with its own clinical licensure rules. Before applying, confirm your nursing or allied health license is valid in the specific state where the role is posted, since sponsorship can stall if licensure isn't in place at offer stage.
Target Hospice-Specific Roles in High-Demand Markets
VITAS concentrates hiring in regions with aging populations and high hospice demand. Focus your search on markets like Florida, Texas, and California, where clinical vacancies turn over faster and hiring managers have more urgency to move quickly through the offer process.
Confirm TN Eligibility Before Your Interview
Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying clinical occupations may be eligible for TN status, which VITAS has sponsored. Verify your occupation is listed under the USMCA TN schedule and have your credentials documentation ready before your first interview round.
Ask HR Directly About I-129 Filing Timelines
Once you receive a verbal offer, ask the recruiter whether VITAS uses in-house counsel or outside immigration attorneys for H-1B filings. Understanding their filing timeline relative to your OPT or current status expiration helps you plan your start date and any USCIS cap-gap window.
Use Migrate Mate to Surface Open Healthcare Roles
VITAS posts Healthcare roles across dozens of locations simultaneously, making it easy to miss openings relevant to your visa type. Use Migrate Mate to filter active VITAS Healthcare positions by sponsorship eligibility so you're only spending time on roles that fit your status.
Document Clinical Hours for OPT Extension Eligibility
If you're on F-1 OPT in a STEM-adjacent healthcare track, confirm whether your specific degree and role qualify for an OPT extension before assuming you have the full timeline. Gaps in documented clinical hours can disqualify an otherwise valid extension request with USCIS.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does VITAS Healthcare sponsor H-1B visas for Healthcares?
Yes, VITAS Healthcare has sponsored H-1B visas for Healthcare professionals. Sponsorship is typically tied to specific clinical roles where a qualifying specialty occupation degree is required. Because H-1B sponsorship involves DOL Labor Condition Application filing and USCIS petition submission, confirm with the recruiter early in your process whether the specific role you're applying to is eligible.
How do I apply for Healthcare jobs at VITAS Healthcare?
Applications go through VITAS Healthcare's careers portal, where roles are listed by location, service line, and clinical function. Before applying, verify that your license is active in the posting state. You can also browse VITAS Healthcare positions filtered by visa sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which makes it easier to identify the right openings without manually checking each listing.
Which visa types are commonly used for Healthcare roles at VITAS Healthcare?
VITAS Healthcare has sponsored H-1B, F-1 OPT, F-1 CPT, and TN visas for Healthcare roles. H-1B is the most common path for full-time clinical hires. TN is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying occupations like registered nursing or physical therapy under the USMCA schedule. OPT and CPT typically apply to healthcare graduates completing supervised clinical practice hours.
What qualifications and experience does VITAS Healthcare expect for Healthcare roles?
Most clinical roles at VITAS require active state licensure in the relevant discipline, such as an RN license for nursing positions or a PT or OT license for therapy roles. Hospice and palliative care experience is valued but not always required at entry level. For H-1B sponsorship, the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a specific bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field is standard for that position.
How long does the visa sponsorship process take for a Healthcare offer at VITAS Healthcare?
Timeline depends on your current status and the visa category. For H-1B, USCIS standard processing runs several months, while premium processing is adjudicated within 15 business days. OPT and TN can move faster, sometimes within weeks of an offer. Build in time for the DOL Labor Condition Application certification, which must be approved before USCIS can receive the H-1B petition, and confirm start dates accordingly.
