Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Clinical Nurse Jobs at WellSpan Health Jobs
Get Your NCLEX and Credentials Evaluated Early
Foreign-educated nurses must hold an active U.S. state RN license before WellSpan can file most visa petitions. Start your CGFNS credential evaluation and Pennsylvania Board of Nursing application well before you approach any employer, since this process alone can take several months.
Target WellSpan's High-Volume Clinical Departments
WellSpan consistently recruits for inpatient medical-surgical, critical care, and emergency nursing units across its York and Chambersburg hospitals. Applying directly to these high-need service lines improves your odds of landing a role where the hiring team is already comfortable with sponsorship workflows.
Understand the EB-3 Schedule A Advantage for Nurses
Registered nurses qualify under DOL Schedule A, which means WellSpan does not need to complete the full PERM labor market test for an EB-3 Green Card. This shortens the employer's recruitment burden significantly, making green card sponsorship more feasible than in most other professions.
Clarify Sponsorship Scope Before Accepting Any Offer
During the offer stage, confirm in writing whether WellSpan will cover H-1B filing fees, cover EB-3 petition costs, or both. Hospitals sometimes sponsor the initial nonimmigrant status but require nurses to self-fund the immigrant petition, so know exactly what you're agreeing to.
Align Your J-1 or F-1 OPT Timeline with WellSpan's Hiring Cycle
If you're on F-1 OPT or finishing a J-1 exchange program, WellSpan's onboarding timelines for clinical roles typically run eight to twelve weeks from offer to start date. File your OPT extension or H-1B cap-gap paperwork with USCIS immediately after receiving a written offer to avoid a status gap.
Use Migrate Mate to Filter Open Nursing Roles by Sponsorship
Search WellSpan Health's open Clinical Nurse positions on Migrate Mate to surface only roles actively tied to visa sponsorship history. This saves time you'd otherwise spend emailing HR teams to confirm whether international candidates are considered before applying.

Find Clinical Nurse at WellSpan Health JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does WellSpan Health sponsor H-1B visas for Clinical Nurses?
Yes, WellSpan Health has a sponsorship history that includes H-1B petitions for Clinical Nurse roles. Because nursing qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in nursing, eligible RNs with a BSN can be petitioned under the H-1B. WellSpan typically initiates the petition after a formal offer, and your employer of record at the time of filing must hold an active H-1B registration.
Which visa types are commonly used for Clinical Nurse roles at WellSpan Health?
WellSpan supports several pathways for international nurses: H-1B for BSN-prepared RNs, TN status for Canadian or Mexican nurses who meet USMCA requirements, J-1 for nurses in qualifying exchange programs, and F-1 OPT or CPT for nursing students. For permanent residence, the EB-3 Green Card through DOL Schedule A is the most common immigrant pathway because it bypasses the full PERM labor certification process.
How do I apply for Clinical Nurse jobs at WellSpan Health?
Applications go through WellSpan Health's careers portal, where you can filter by department and location across its Pennsylvania campuses. To find roles with confirmed sponsorship history, browse WellSpan's open Clinical Nurse listings on Migrate Mate before applying directly. Tailor your application to the specific unit, since hiring managers in critical care, med-surg, and oncology each have distinct credential expectations.
What qualifications does WellSpan Health expect for Clinical Nurse positions?
WellSpan requires an active Pennsylvania RN license for all Clinical Nurse hires, which means international candidates must pass the NCLEX-RN and complete state licensure before or shortly after receiving an offer. A BSN is strongly preferred and is required for H-1B eligibility. Prior acute care experience in a hospital setting, current BLS certification, and, for specialty units, ACLS or PALS certification are standard expectations.
How do I manage the timeline between a WellSpan offer and my visa filing?
Once WellSpan issues a written offer, the H-1B process requires the employer to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL before submitting the I-129 petition to USCIS. Standard processing runs three to five months after the October 1 cap start date. If you're transitioning from OPT or another status, document your current authorized end date immediately so HR can sequence the filing to avoid any gap in work authorization.
