Frame your portfolio around real estate technology
Zillow evaluates Development Manager candidates on domain relevance. Emphasize experience leading teams that shipped data-heavy or marketplace products, as this maps directly to how Zillow's engineering org is structured.
Target roles aligned with Zillow's core product lines
Development Manager openings at Zillow cluster around their listing platform, data infrastructure, and consumer apps. Filtering applications to teams in these areas puts your candidacy in front of hiring managers who regularly work with sponsored employees.
Address cap timing early in the offer conversation
If you need an H-1B and aren't cap-exempt, USCIS only accepts petitions in April for an October 1 start. Raise this timeline with your Zillow recruiter before offer stage so both sides can plan around the lottery and filing window.
Use Migrate Mate to surface active Development Manager openings
Zillow posts Development Manager roles across multiple channels and teams. Use Migrate Mate to filter for sponsorship-confirmed positions so you're applying to openings where the visa pathway is already established, not just assumed.
Prepare your credential documentation before PERM begins
If Zillow moves you toward an EB-2 or EB-3 Green Card, DOL's PERM process requires a precise match between your actual qualifications and the job description. Have degree certificates, transcripts, and employment verification letters ready before the petition is filed.

Find Development Manager at Zillow JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does Zillow sponsor H-1B visas for Development Managers?
Yes, Zillow sponsors H-1B visas for Development Manager roles. The company works with immigration counsel to file petitions for qualified candidates. If you're subject to the annual H-1B cap, the April registration window determines your start date. Candidates already holding H-1B status through another employer can transfer without waiting for the next lottery cycle.
Which visa types does Zillow commonly use for Development Manager roles?
Zillow sponsors a range of visa categories for Development Managers, including H-1B, F-1 OPT and CPT, TN for Canadian and Mexican nationals, J-1, and employment-based Green Card pathways such as EB-2 and EB-3. The right category depends on your nationality, current status, and career stage. Confirming which applies to your situation before you reach the offer stage prevents delays.
What qualifications and experience does Zillow expect for a Development Manager?
Zillow typically looks for Development Managers with a background in software engineering combined with experience leading cross-functional teams. Familiarity with agile delivery, data platforms, or consumer-facing marketplace products is valued given Zillow's core business. A bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field is standard for sponsored roles, as it anchors the specialty occupation classification required for H-1B and Green Card petitions.
How do I apply for Development Manager jobs at Zillow?
You can browse and apply for Development Manager openings at Zillow through Migrate Mate, which surfaces sponsorship-confirmed roles so you know the visa pathway is supported before you apply. Zillow's recruiting process typically involves an initial screen, technical and behavioral interviews, and a hiring panel. Sponsorship questions are best raised with the recruiter during the initial screen rather than waiting until an offer is in hand.
How do I plan my timeline if I need visa sponsorship for a Zillow Development Manager role?
Timeline depends on your visa category. F-1 OPT lets you start work while USCIS processes your H-1B petition. TN status for Canadian and Mexican nationals can be granted at the border with an offer letter, making it one of the faster paths. H-1B cap cases require the April lottery, with employment beginning October 1 at the earliest. Green Card sponsorship through EB-2 or EB-3 involves DOL PERM labor certification first, which adds months to the overall process.
