Position Title: Contract Manager, Negotiation Specialist
Location: Davidson, NC (Hybrid)
Job Summary:
As a key member of Ingersoll Rand’s North America Commercial team, the Contract Manager is a highly visible individual contributor responsible for reviewing, negotiating, interpreting, and approving complex long-term service agreements and related commercial contracts. This role supports recurring service revenue growth, including expansion of the CARE service agreement portfolio—one of the company’s most important recurring revenue engines.
The Contract Manager evaluates contractual risk, long-term financial exposure, profitability, and policy compliance to ensure agreements are appropriately structured and aligned with company requirements. Serving as the contract negotiation subject matter expert, this individual partners with Sales, Finance, Legal, Operations, senior leadership, and channel partners to manage end-to-end contracting activities, provide guidance on contract terms and approval requirements, mitigate risk, and advance complex agreements through execution. Success in this role requires significant experience in negotiating complex commercial contracts and long-term service agreements, along with the ability to navigate customer issues and commercial dynamics while balancing speed, risk, customer needs, and business objectives.
The Contract Manager will directly influence how service agreements are structured, reviewed, negotiated, approved, and finalized to protect Ingersoll Rand’s long-term interests while supporting profitable recurring revenue growth, customer retention, and commercial performance. This role requires frequent interaction with customers, Sales teams, channel leaders, and senior leadership, including VP-level stakeholders. With “time-to-win/time-to-close” serving as an important measure of success, the ability to align stakeholders, manage communication, and move negotiations forward efficiently is critical to business outcomes.
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate strong business acumen, analytical capability, proven leadership, and interpersonal skills in a collaborative, fast-moving, deadline-driven environment.
- Lead contract negotiations and develop/implement contracting strategies, supported by thorough knowledge of contract formation, negotiation, and administration, while contributing to business and contracting policy improvements.
- Partner effectively with sales professionals and sales management on strategies for large or complex sales opportunities.
- Maintain regular direct interaction with customers to resolve issues, strengthen relationships, and support successful contract execution.
- Create and deliver clear, compelling communications that motivate North America sales teams while communicating professionally and prioritizing effectively across competing demands.
- Develop and maintain knowledge management materials, sales tools, and calculators that support sales effectiveness, pricing, and contract decision-making.
- Provide direction and content for sales and marketing collateral to support commercial initiatives and channel engagement.
- Identify performance gaps within channel teams and lead effective countermeasures, including delivering engaging training programs that strengthen channel sales capabilities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
- 5+ years of business experience with a dedicated focus on contract negotiations
