Contracts Manager Jobs in Tennessee: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a contracts manager in Tennessee?
Most contracts manager roles in Tennessee require a bachelor's degree in business administration, law, supply chain, or a related field. Tennessee does not have a state-issued license specifically for contracts managers, but federal and defense roles often expect familiarity with FAR and DFARS. Earning a Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) credential through the National Contract Management Association strengthens your candidacy considerably, particularly with Tennessee's large defense and government contracting employer base.
Which companies hire contracts managers in Tennessee?
Employers hiring contracts managers in Tennessee right now include HealthTrust, Kiewit, and Kiewit Corporation, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Tennessee's mix of large health systems, aerospace and defense contractors, and state government agencies means contracts manager demand is spread across several distinct employer types.
Which Tennessee cities have the most contracts manager jobs?
Nashville, Oak Ridge, and Tullahoma have the most contracts manager openings in Tennessee. Nashville leads because of its concentration of healthcare headquarters and corporate offices, while Knoxville and Oak Ridge draw contracts management work from Department of Energy facilities and defense-adjacent contractors that have operated in the region for decades.
Are there remote contracts manager jobs in Tennessee?
Yes, and more than many comparable roles. Contracts management is largely a desk-based, document-driven function, which makes remote and hybrid arrangements common. About 67% of contracts manager openings tied to Tennessee are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the role translates to distributed work. Contract review, negotiation correspondence, and lifecycle tracking are the tasks most frequently performed remotely.
How can I get hired as a contracts manager in Tennessee with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a contract specialist or procurement assistant role, which large Tennessee employers like TVA, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and state agencies post regularly for candidates with a business or public administration degree and no prior contracts experience. Lateral moves from paralegal, purchasing coordinator, or project coordinator roles are common. Completing the NCMA's Certified Commercial Contracts Manager exam or a contracts administration certificate program gives candidates a measurable edge in a competitive applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to contracts manager jobs in Tennessee?
You can find and apply to contracts manager jobs in Tennessee on Migrate Mate, which lists current Tennessee openings across healthcare, defense, construction, and government contracting. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employers posting them.
