Barlow Concrete is a family-owned concrete construction company located in Glen Burnie, Maryland. We are seeking a detail-oriented assistant controller to join our team in-person, M-F. A qualified candidate will be responsible for providing onsite accounting / bookkeeping support to our Controller / Full Charge Bookkeeper.

Required Skills

1. Attention to Detail: Accurately record data and maintain error-free records

3. Ethics/Confidentiality: Adhere to confidentiality and maintain ethics while managing sensitive financial data

4. Financial Literacy: MUST understand basic accounting principles (I.e.: Terminology and financial statements, bookkeeping such as double-entry accounting (two book entries) – debit and credit – for each business transaction.

5. Organizational skills: maintaining financial records, invoices, receipts, and other documents

6. Proficiency in accounting software: Record transactions, reconcile accounts and create reports

7. Time Management: Prioritize workload and meet deadlines.

Job Responsibilities & Duties

(Assist the Controller / Full Charge Bookkeeper with the following)

1. Oversee the company’s financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial statements (including balance sheets and income statements)

2. Record, classify and compute numerical data to maintain financial records

3. Reconcile bank accounts, cash accounts, general ledgers, and credit card accounts

4. Prepare financial reports and statements such as income statements, balance sheets, account reconciliations, and job cost reports.

5. Manage payroll: Manage the employee records and timesheets, enter timesheets into the payroll system, generate and print paychecks.

6. Banking: Manage banking and cash-on-hand, as well as preparing bank deposits and confirming the checking and savings accounts daily

7. Comply with all regulatory requirements

8. Accounts Payable: Collect invoices from vendors using USPS and emails. Verify ac curacy from company president, project manager and estimator. Code invoices with proper cost code and enter the information into the A/P computer accounting system. Process/print checks for signature.

9. Accounts Receivable: Use foreman timesheets to list daily job activity. This daily list is kept chronologically. Communicate with project managers for job completion statis. Attach foreman reports to job folder and give to President for written invoice – Enter written invoice into A/R accounting system. Print invoices and email to customers.

Qualifications

· (5+ years) Proven experience as an accounting professional

• Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office
• Solid understanding of basic accounting principles
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• High school diploma or GED required, Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Pay: $84,000.00 per year
