Candidates strengthen their standing by earning vendor-neutral credentials such as the Certified Data Management Professional designation from DAMA International, then building experience in industries where South Carolina hires heavily, particularly healthcare systems and state agencies.
How much do data managers make in South Carolina?
Data managers in South Carolina earn a median of about $93,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $54,040 for the lowest 10% to over $149,000 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire data managers in South Carolina?
South Carolina data manager roles are posted by Fluor, CBRE, and Google and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. South Carolina's concentration of hospital networks, insurance carriers, and state government agencies means demand is spread across both the private sector and public institutions headquartered in the Columbia metro.
Which South Carolina cities have the most data manager jobs?
Greenville, Rock Hill, and Charleston lead South Carolina in data manager openings. Columbia dominates because it is home to state government agencies and major insurance employers, Charleston's growing tech and medical sectors fuel consistent demand, and Greenville's manufacturing and healthcare corridor has expanded its data operations as companies like Michelin and Prisma Health scale their analytics teams.

The roles most likely to be fully remote are those centered on cloud data governance, reporting, and business intelligence, while positions requiring hands-on database administration in regulated environments tend to require on-site presence.

The most realistic entry path is moving into a data manager role from an adjacent position such as data analyst, database administrator, or reporting specialist, which are common stepping-stone titles at South Carolina's larger hospital systems and state agencies.
