The typical path begins with a bachelor's degree in human resources or business, followed by several years in a recruiting coordinator or specialist role at a South Carolina employer. Earning a credential such as SHRM-CP, PHR, or SPHR through HRCI strengthens a candidacy significantly. Many South Carolina hiring managers also value active membership in the South Carolina SHRM state council.
How much do recruiting managers make in South Carolina?
Recruiting managers in South Carolina earn a median of about $124,290 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $70,840 for the lowest 10% to over $209,380 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire recruiting managers in South Carolina?

Columbia leads as the state capital and home to large government contractors, healthcare systems, and university employers, while Greenville's manufacturing corridor anchored by BMW and Michelin drives strong industrial recruiting demand, and Charleston's expanding logistics, hospitality, and tech sectors round out the market.
