Join our collaborative R&D team, where you'll contribute to innovation in filtration and purification technologies. As a Staff Scientist, you'll guide research initiatives, develop solutions, and work with cross-functional teams to advance our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. You'll design and optimize new technologies, conduct experimental validation, analyze complex data, and provide technical direction across multiple projects. This role offers the opportunity to make significant contributions to innovative developments while working with state-of-the-art equipment and skilled colleagues in a supportive environment.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Advanced Degree plus 6 years of experience, or Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of experience in hands-on R&D experience in filtration media development.
- Preferred Fields of Study: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Chemistry, Physics.
- Proven expertise in nonwoven technologies, including:
- Strong history of developing liquid filtration media produced by the melt-blown process displaying a fundamental understanding of the key process parameters and their influence on web properties
- Use of nanofiber based nonwovens and processes is a plus
- Hands-on experience measuring nonwoven media properties, specifying test equipment and preparing methods
- Demonstrated experience specifying key properties of spunbond webs, wetlaid media and/or media produced from staple fibers by air laid or carding process and through-air bonding, needlepunch, hydroentangling or calendaring for use in filtration products
- Knowledge and experience with converting processes utilized to produce liquid filter elements from the nonwoven webs
- Experience evaluating and selecting the most appropriate polymer material for the intended application
- Demonstrated ability to guide complex technical projects and mentor team members
- Track record of innovation through patents, publications, and successful product launches
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams
- Experience with statistical analysis and experimental design methodologies
- Proficiency with scientific instrumentation and laboratory techniques
- Strong documentation skills following ISO9001 guidelines
- Ability to travel up to 20% domestically and internationally
- Working experience of commercialization (New Product Introduction) processes
- Knowledge of FDA/regulatory requirements for food contact applications
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Connecticut is $113,500.00–$170,200.00. This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
