Devops Manager Jobs in Hawaii: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a devops manager in Hawaii?
There is no state-issued license required to work as a devops manager in Hawaii, so the path runs through education and technical experience. Most employers expect at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, followed by several years in DevOps or systems engineering roles. Candidates who add cloud certifications from AWS, Google, or Microsoft and demonstrate leadership experience managing pipelines or infrastructure teams move into management consideration faster in the Hawaii market.
How much do devops managers make in Hawaii?
Devops managers in Hawaii earn a median of about $130,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $76,170 for the lowest 10% to over $204,730 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire devops managers in Hawaii?
Companies currently hiring devops managers in Hawaii include GHD, Sazerac, and Coverall, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hawaii's hiring is particularly active among defense contractors and state agencies on Oahu, where large federal programs drive sustained demand for senior DevOps leadership.
Which Hawaii cities have the most devops manager jobs?
Honolulu, Hawaii, and Waipahu account for the largest share of devops manager openings in Hawaii. Honolulu dominates because it is home to the state's major defense installations, government agencies, and the University of Hawaii system, all of which run substantial technology operations, while any openings in smaller communities typically trace back to satellite offices or remote-eligible postings tied to those same Oahu-based employers.
Are there remote devops manager jobs in Hawaii?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of devops manager openings tied to Hawaii are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the fact that infrastructure management and pipeline work can be done entirely from a laptop. The portions most likely to stay fully remote are cloud architecture and automation, while roles tied to classified DoD environments or on-premises data centers typically require on-site presence in Honolulu.
How can I get hired as a devops manager in Hawaii with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a DevOps engineer or systems administrator role first, then building toward management. In Hawaii, Booz Allen Hamilton and Leidos regularly onboard junior engineers through early-career programs supporting federal contracts on Oahu, and the University of Hawaii IT division hires associate-level infrastructure staff who can grow into senior roles. Building hands-on experience with cloud platforms, earning an AWS or Google Cloud certification, and demonstrating project leadership in any capacity strengthens a management candidacy significantly.
