Early Childhood Education Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a early childhood education in Texas?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in early childhood education or child development, then applying for a Texas teaching certificate with an Early Childhood through Grade 3 certification area through the Texas Education Agency. For roles in licensed childcare centers rather than public schools, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission oversees the Texas Child Care Director and educator credentialing pathways. Completing the Child Development Associate credential is a recognized stepping stone for those entering the field before pursuing a full degree.
How much do early childhood educations make in Texas?
Early childhood educations in Texas earn a median of about $33,860 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $26,430 for the lowest 10% to over $49,680 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire early childhood educations in Texas?
Employers hiring early childhood educations in Texas right now include Spring Independent School District, ALDINE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, and United Way, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's large and growing public school districts, federally funded Head Start programs, and national childcare networks operating across the state's major metros are consistently among the most active hirers.
Which Texas cities have the most early childhood education jobs?
Houston, Spring, and San Antonio have the most early childhood education openings in Texas. Houston and Dallas lead because of their sheer population size, large independent school districts, and dense networks of licensed childcare centers, while San Antonio's strong concentration of military families and federally funded Head Start programs drives significant demand in that market.
Are there remote early childhood education jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're rare. Early childhood education work is almost entirely hands-on and requires a physical presence with children, so the field is among the least remote-compatible. About 0% of early childhood education openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and the roles most likely to appear in that category are curriculum development, early childhood coaching, or program administration positions rather than direct classroom or care roles.
How can I get hired as a early childhood education in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a classroom aide or teacher assistant role inside a Texas public school district or a licensed childcare center, both of which regularly hire candidates without prior professional experience. Large Texas Independent School Districts such as Houston ISD and Dallas ISD run paraprofessional pipelines that allow classroom assistants to work toward full certification while employed. Completing the Child Development Associate credential or enrolling in an early childhood education associate degree program at a Texas community college significantly strengthens an application and signals readiness to hiring managers.
Where can I find and apply to early childhood education jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to early childhood education jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings from school districts, childcare networks, Head Start programs, and other employers across the state. Find the roles that fit your experience and credentials and apply directly.
