Education Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a education in Delaware?
To work as an educator in Delaware's public schools, you must hold a valid Delaware educator license issued by the Delaware Department of Education, which requires completing an approved teacher preparation program, passing the appropriate Pratt or Pearson subject-area and pedagogy assessments, and submitting your application through the Department's online licensing portal. Private and charter schools may have different requirements, and higher education positions typically require a master's degree or doctorate in the relevant field rather than a state teaching license.
Which companies hire educations in Delaware?
Delaware education roles are posted by Appoquinimink School District, Beebe Healthcare, and University of Delaware and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's employer mix includes traditional public school districts, charter networks, early childhood centers, and the University of Delaware and Delaware State University systems.
Which Delaware cities have the most education jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and Middletown consistently have the most education openings in Delaware. Wilmington dominates as the state's largest city and home to its densest concentration of public schools, charter campuses, and nonprofit education organizations, while Dover and Newark generate steady demand through state government connections, Capital School District, and the University of Delaware's main campus respectively.
Are there remote education jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. Most education work in Delaware requires in-person presence in classrooms, schools, or program sites. About 33% of education openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those roles tend to be concentrated in instructional design, curriculum development, education technology coordination, and district-level administrative work rather than direct classroom instruction.
How can I get hired as a education in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying as a paraeducator or substitute teacher, both of which are consistently in high demand across Delaware public school districts and require no classroom experience. Christina School District, Red Clay Consolidated School District, and Capital School District all post paraeducator and instructional aide roles that serve as a direct pipeline into full teaching positions. Completing a Delaware-approved alternative licensure program while working in one of these support roles, and obtaining your substitute permit through the Delaware Department of Education, gives candidates without a traditional preparation background a clear and credentialed entry route.
Where can I find and apply to education jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to education jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings across school districts, higher education institutions, and education organizations statewide. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and certification, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
