Clinical Assistant Professor Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a clinical assistant professor in Delaware?
Most Delaware institutions require a terminal or professional degree in your clinical field, such as a DNP, DPT, PA-C, or MD, along with an active Delaware clinical license where the profession requires one. Licensure is overseen by the Delaware Division of Professional Regulation, which manages boards for nursing, physical therapy, and other licensed health professions. Candidates typically need demonstrated clinical experience and evidence of teaching or precepting before appointment to a faculty role.
Which companies hire clinical assistant professors in Delaware?
Delaware clinical assistant professor roles are posted by University of Delaware, Chamberlain University, and Beebe Healthcare and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's academic medical ecosystem is anchored by health systems and universities that sustain ongoing faculty needs across nursing, allied health, and physician training programs.
Which Delaware cities have the most clinical assistant professor jobs?
Newark, Wilmington, and Lewes have the most clinical assistant professor openings in Delaware. Newark leads because the University of Delaware and nearby ChristianaCare drive substantial academic health hiring, while Wilmington's concentration of hospital systems and Nemours Children's Health supports additional faculty roles, and Dover anchors state government-adjacent health education programs at Delaware State University.
Are there remote clinical assistant professor jobs in Delaware?
Yes, but they're rare. About 0% of clinical assistant professor openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the hands-on clinical supervision and laboratory instruction that most faculty roles require. The portions most likely to be remote are didactic course instruction, curriculum development, and administrative committee work rather than direct clinical education.
How can I get hired as a clinical assistant professor in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a part-time or adjunct clinical instructor role while completing your terminal degree or shortly after licensure. ChristianaCare and Nemours Children's Health both support clinical education partnerships with area programs, making preceptor and adjunct positions a common stepping stone. Building a teaching portfolio through guest lecturing, lab instruction, or clinical supervision in a residency program strengthens a first faculty application considerably.
