ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role you will join the Wets Engineering team at our Mohawk Valley Fab (MVF) — the world's largest 200mm SiC wafer fabrication facility — to sustain, optimize, and improve chemical-based wet process systems used in the manufacture of silicon carbide power devices. Your equipment portfolio will include automated batch immersion wet stations, spin scrubber/brush cleaning platforms, and closed-chamber batch spray systems.
Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive maintenance (MTBPM), tool fingerprinting, and CIPs to meet tool availability goals; troubleshoot chemical delivery sub-systems and drive root cause analysis (RCA) on equipment excursions to prevent recurrence
- Create and maintain PM procedures, tool configuration records, and tool acceptance specifications; support tool selection decisions for capacity increases and process development/transfer
- Partner with process engineering and production to improve quality metrics, reduce scrap and rework, and drive cost reduction; present technical data and project updates to peers and management
- Champion chemical safety and EHS compliance for wet chemistry operations — including acids, bases, oxidants, and specialty chemistries — enforcing PPE and hazardous waste procedures
- Manage spare parts inventory and equipment BOMs; coordinate with vendors on technical escalations, parts sourcing, and field service support
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- A bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field with 2+ years of semiconductor experience
- Hands-on experience sustaining wet process equipment in a semiconductor wafer fabrication environment
- Demonstrated awareness of chemical safety protocols and safe handling practices for hazardous wet chemistry
- Proficiency in technical writing and presentations
This role may require additional duties and/or assignments as designated by management.

Equipment Engineer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a equipment engineer in New York?
Most equipment engineer roles in New York require a bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering from an accredited program. New York does not mandate a state-issued license specifically for equipment engineers in manufacturing or semiconductor settings, though engineers who stamp drawings or take public-project responsibility may need a Professional Engineer license through the New York State Education Department. Employers in pharmaceutical and defense sectors often also expect industry-specific certifications such as Six Sigma or equipment validation credentials.
Which companies hire equipment engineers in New York?
Employers hiring equipment engineers in New York right now include Wolfspeed, GlobalFoundries, and Maimonides Medical Center, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. New York's concentration of semiconductor fabs, pharmaceutical plants, and defense contractors means demand is consistent across both the New York City metro and upstate corridors like the Capital Region and Long Island.
Which New York cities have the most equipment engineer jobs?
Marcy, Malta, and Brooklyn account for the largest share of equipment engineer openings in New York. New York City and Long Island draw demand from defense contractors, biotech firms, and advanced manufacturing facilities, while Albany and its surrounding Capital Region benefit from GlobalFoundries and the broader semiconductor cluster anchored by SUNY Poly's nanotechnology campus, making upstate a genuine hub for process equipment roles.
Are there remote equipment engineer jobs in New York?
Yes, but they're rare. Equipment engineering is fundamentally hands-on work tied to physical machinery, cleanrooms, and production floors, so most roles require on-site presence. About 0% of equipment engineer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, and those positions tend to involve equipment qualification documentation, vendor management, or technical project oversight rather than direct floor operations.
How can I get hired as a equipment engineer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a co-op or internship with a New York manufacturer while still completing your engineering degree, since employers like Pfizer and IBM recruit heavily from programs at Cornell, RPI, and SUNY Stony Brook. Graduates who lack direct equipment experience often move in through quality technician, maintenance engineering associate, or process technician roles. Pursuing a Certified Reliability Engineer credential or completing equipment validation coursework gives candidates a concrete edge when competing for junior openings.
Where can I find and apply to equipment engineer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to equipment engineer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the ones that match.
