Facilities Project Manager Jobs in Mississippi: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a facilities project manager in Mississippi?
Most Mississippi employers expect a bachelor's degree in facilities management, engineering, construction management, or a related field paired with project management experience. Mississippi does not issue a state-specific facilities management license, but earning a Certified Facility Manager credential through IFMA or a Project Management Professional certification significantly strengthens candidacy. Large employers in healthcare and higher education, such as major hospital systems and state universities, commonly prioritize these credentials when reviewing applicants.
How much do facilities project managers make in Mississippi?
Facilities project managers in Mississippi earn a median of about $93,640 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $51,030 for the lowest 10% to over $156,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire facilities project managers in Mississippi?
Companies currently hiring facilities project managers in Mississippi include Walmart, Milwaukee Tool, and Canopy Children's Solutions, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Mississippi's healthcare systems, shipbuilding operations along the Gulf Coast, and public university campuses represent some of the most consistent sources of facilities project manager openings across the state.
Which Mississippi cities have the most facilities project manager jobs?
Jackson, Flowood, and Olive Branch account for the greatest concentration of facilities project manager openings in Mississippi. Jackson leads as the state capital with its dense cluster of hospitals, government facilities, and corporate campuses, while Gulfport and Biloxi benefit from ongoing casino resort construction, shipyard operations, and post-storm infrastructure investment that keeps facilities project pipelines active year-round.
Are there remote facilities project manager jobs in Mississippi?
Yes, but they're rare. Facilities project management is an inherently on-site role since it involves overseeing physical spaces, coordinating tradespeople, and conducting building inspections. About 17% of facilities project manager openings tied to Mississippi are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically cover only the planning, budgeting, and documentation phases of a project rather than day-to-day site supervision.
How can I get hired as a facilities project manager in Mississippi with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is starting in a facilities coordinator or maintenance planner role, which large Mississippi employers like the University of Mississippi Medical Center and state agency facilities departments regularly hire without requiring prior project management experience. From there, moving into assistant project manager positions is common. Pursuing an entry-level Certified Facility Manager Associate credential through IFMA and building a portfolio of small capital or renovation projects, even in a support capacity, gives candidates a measurable edge when applying to full project manager roles.
Where can I find and apply to facilities project manager jobs in Mississippi?
You can find and apply to facilities project manager jobs in Mississippi on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers hiring across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to the positions that fit.
