Finance Jobs in Utah: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance in Utah?
Most finance roles in Utah require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics as a baseline. For roles in public accounting or financial advising, you will need credentials recognized by the Utah Division of Professional Licensing, such as a CPA license issued through the Utah Board of Accountancy or a CFP or CFA designation. Many Utah employers in banking and fintech also value completion of an internal rotational analyst program as a starting point.
Which companies hire finances in Utah?
Companies currently hiring finances in Utah include L3Harris, University of Utah, and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Utah's large fintech corridor and the presence of major corporate headquarters in the Salt Lake Valley mean hiring tends to be consistent across both established financial institutions and high-growth technology companies with finance teams.
Which Utah cities have the most finance jobs?
Salt Lake City, Orem, and Midvale have the most finance openings in Utah. Salt Lake City drives the bulk of demand as the state's corporate and banking hub, while Provo and Orem benefit from the dense concentration of fintech and tech-sector finance teams along the Wasatch Front, and Sandy and South Jordan host regional offices for major financial services firms.
Are there remote finance jobs in Utah?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 67% of finance openings tied to Utah are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of most finance work. Roles in financial planning and analysis, corporate accounting, and investment reporting are the most likely to offer remote or hybrid arrangements, while positions requiring in-person client meetings or audit fieldwork tend to be fully on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance in Utah with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to junior financial analyst or accounting associate roles at Utah's large employers in banking, healthcare finance, or tech. Zions Bancorporation and Intermountain Health both run structured new-grad programs, and many Provo-area fintech companies hire associate analysts directly from Utah Valley University and BYU's business programs. Completing a CPA exam section or earning an entry-level Excel or financial modeling certification gives candidates a measurable edge with Utah hiring managers reviewing otherwise similar applications.
Where can I find and apply to finance jobs in Utah?
